View Full Version : Did Kevin Durant ruined Russell Westbrook's Legacy?

In 2016 Russell Westbrook put up better numbers than Kyrie did. Perhaps if Russell Westbrook wasn't playing with a choker like Durant he would have beaten the Warriors like Kyrie did with LeBron.

Russ also outperformed Kevin Durant in 2012 Finals. Did Kevin Durant choking ruin Russell Westbrook's Legacy?

Nah, he did not :lol

But to answer your question, I think he ruined multiple players legacies; LeBron, Curry and honestly even himself. A lot of people still don't take what he does on Golden State seriously

No, Westbrook has turned himself into Jason Kidd with better decision skills after picking up the ball.

Just the fact Kevin Durant is averaging only 1.1 blocks this year let's you know he's not the one that ruined his legacy

It's all the over head Derek Fisher type passer that did it.

Nope, Westbrook has a superstar teammate in Paul George that is very comparable to Durant. He had Schroder (a starting PG on other teams) and a still solid Melo last year along with Adams and they haven't been able to get it done.

If anyone hurt legacies it's OKC's front office not keeping the Durant, Harden, Westbrook, Ibaka core together. But Presti redeemed himself by getting George on the squad.

That Harden gamble that led them to trading for Martin to replace the NBA's future scoring leader is why they're where they are today.

He left when they were just figuring shit out. They would have had Oladipo and Horford had KD stuck around. Would have rivaled the Warriors for years :confusedshrug:

I will say though, because KD left the way he did was a big narrative in him winning MVP. Russ was clutch as hell but people don't vote seeds lower than 4 as MVP.

Lebron would have lost with Westbrook in place of Kyrie in the 2016 Finals.

True! I think Harden should have won that year. But also, I think that was the 1st season Russ averaged a triple double so it was a big deal at the time.

There's no telling. Westbrook was the biggest reason they were up 3-1 against the Warriors in the 1st place. He was yuge in game 1 when they stole home court.

Russ was HUGE that series vs the Warriors. He gave OKC 27-11-7 with 4 steals PER GAME.

Without KD, Westbrick is a worse version of Lowry/Derozan (they atleast win 50+ games and get past 1st round).

He also shot terribly and would be a terrible match with another ball-dominant ball-handler in Lebron. He couldn't play Irving's role. Maybe he's better defensively, but you can't really do a better job defensively than what the Cavs did against the Warriors if you look at how Curry, Barnes & Klay were all shut down for most of the series.

Look how things change. Few days ago, you were all bashing "Westbrick" for shooting his team out of the series, now you think that one of the greatest scorers in NBA history ruined his legacy and that he would have been a better fit than Irving (one of the most efficient scorers/shooters) next to Lebron.

Durant ruined multiple legacies when he Joined the Warriors:

1. Russell Westbrick - Russell's best chance to ever win was to shut up and pass to Durant unless he had a fast break or wide open driving lane. F#@ked that up. Now he's getting ridiculously inflated numbers in a league of players who don't respect him. Tough sh!t, you selfish DL sub-80IQ cornball. Enjoy being hated by your own fanbase when you are makming $47mil at 34, when your athleticism will decline so far that you will be coming off the bench.

2. His own legacy. KD joining the warriors ruins how history will view the many chips he will win with them.

3. Splash Bros legacy. They could have   WON:rockon:  3-5 without him. Now they will *win* 4-6 with him, and they'll be worth 1/3rd what they would have been, to anyone who matters.

I can get behind most of this but don't forget KD needed Westbrook just as much. Westbrook was extremely important in their 2012 Finals run and their 2016 WCF where he averaged 27-11-7-3.6 spg

This is not a troll thread. Look at how many times Westbrook outperformed Snake Durant during multiple critical playoff series.

2013 WCF vs Spurs
Russ: .......27-6-7-3.2 spg (41%)
ORtg: ......109
DRtg: ......108
GmScore: 20.9

Durant: ....26-8-3-1.2 spg (47%)
ORtg: ......105
DRtg: ......113
GmScore: 17.8

2016 WCF vs Warriors
Russ: ...-....27-7-11-3.6 spg (40%)
ORtg: .......109
DRtg: .......104
GmScore: .23.1

Durant: ....30-8-3-1.7 spg (42%)
ORtg: .......106
DRtg: .......106
GmScore: .20.1

As you can see in both crucial series Westbrook outplayed Durant but wasn't able to carry that choke artist snake body all the way to a series win.

In both series above Westbrook is a net positive (ORtg - DRtg) while Durant was a neg NEGATIVE in both series.

So all you can give me is two series in all those years they played together :lol .

I could give you at least four series, where Irving scored more efficiently while being a bigger net positive than Bran.

That's disingenuous. Kyrie has deficiencies, but he's smarter on the court than Westbrook, a better shooter, and more clutch. Westbrook is arguably the worst crunchtime decision maker of any NBA superstar ever. Volume stats and high energy play don't change that.
