To begin with, I don't think he has a terrible team. Jokic and his Nuggets earned the two seed in the West after all. Assuming that seeding matters he was favored to win against lower seeds.

And yes, if he wins a championship this year he is definitely top five in the league for 2019 and entering the 2020 season.

Jokic should be getting more serious MVP talk than he's getting. He is not only getting triple doubles he's doing it without much effort. It's within the flow of the game. I don't see him forcing bad passes and trying hard to hunt down rebounds. He's just in the right spots. He does the high low pass very well and looks for cutters.
