I went to all three for the first time in years these past two weeks. I had only been to Five guys and The Habit once in general while I'd been to Fatburger a couple dozen times when I was younger when we'd camp at the beach campsite in San Clemente and then to the one on the way from Servite HS where my brother went for his first two years. Since HS I haven't been there, though, so were talking about nearly 20 years.

Burger:

Five Guys
The Habit
Fatburger

For the size and taste I have to say Five Guys was the best. The habit's double char with cheese was tasty, but I was underwhelmed by it's size. Fatburger was kind of a disappointment for me and didn't live up to my memory. It seemed kind of bland and the cheese game was weak. Seemed like they barely put any on. In the end, they were all good burgers that you couldn't go wrong with, though. Certainly better than what you'd pick up at a fast food place. (sans In N Out)

Side:

Fatburger
Five Guys
The Habit

I had the chili cheese fries (which I'm a fiend for) at Fatburger, cajun fries at Five guys, and fried green beans at The Habit. Fatburgers chili cheese fries were excellent and by far the best side. I probably enjoyed them more than the burgers at that. The Cajun fries were really tasty too and you can't go wrong with the serving sizes for fries at Five Guys. The fried green beans were decent, but kind of underwhelming. I thought they were going to be a lot better than they were and I wasn't impressed by how much you get.

Value:

Fatburger
The Habit
Five Guys

As far as pricing guys I thought Fatburger was the best for what you got. Big burger (I got the half lb King) and plenty of chili fries for about 12.50 or so bucks. The Habit was the cheapest, but you also got the least food. Five guys is just expensive in general. Just getting their regular cheeseburger is 9 dollars and a regular order of fries 5. While it's a better burger than say In n Out (maybe...it's actually been awhile since I've been to there now, too) it's not so much better that I'd go to five guys over an In n Out when you are basically paying twice as much or more for a burger fries and drink combo.

Overall:

Fatburger
Five Guys
The Habit

Gonna have to go with Fatburger overall here. While I liked the burger the least it was still a solid burger. There's another location around here I'm going to try next to see if that was just an off day. It still wasn't a bad burger, regardless. Either way, their chili cheese fries were the thing I enjoyed the most between all three places. Five guys, expensive, but really tasty so it get's 2 and The Habit lands in last as while it was good I just wasn't impressed by the size of the burger or amount you get in your side.

Meltdown. And that's cool. It's not like I would really care if that did happen. It's just a game, bro.

Of those three, Fatburger is the best overall unless you go to the original Habit location on Sepulveda and National

Never been to one. They are here in southern california, but not where I've lived throughout the years. I don't even think I've ever even seen one before.

They've changed over the years but they are famous for making your burger a la carte. I remember they used to offer the 1lb patty which was the size of a whole plate. The boys and I back in the day used to challenge ourselves to 2 or 3 lb burgers. I could never make it past one.

Fudd is the best.

I made the mistake of eating a 2 lb burger once from Fudd without training for it...

I felt like I was going to die afterwards and I didn

Honestly? It depends on who the consumer is.
If you're just looking for something plain, meat and cheese? then, yah, Fatburger and stuff would be the way to go.

But if you're talking taste and quality, I've always said FIVE GUYS is muuuuuch better at making burgers than damn near anyone. Even In-N-Out. The fact that you can get Quality and fresh tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, etc. on a burger? I mean, it's much better tasting than just meat and cheese. lol

I would rank them

Five Guys
In-N-Out
Habit
Fatburger

Five Guys tastes like a burger anyone can make on the grill at home, and it costs twice as much as In N Out.

5 Guys loses major points with me for cooking fries in peanut oil.

Here in BC it's Fatburger, Carls Jr, Rocket Burger, Vera Burger
