View Full Version : Is Kyrie already regressing?

Does it appear to anyone else that Kyrie is turning back into his pre LeBron 2012, 2013, 2014 form where he missed the playoffs for three straight years in the "weak east"?

His ppg has declined each year since leaving Cleveland, too.

2017 Cavs: 25.2 ppg *Under LeBron Ball
2018 Celtics: 24.4 ppg
2019 Celtics: 23.8 ppg

He seems to DROP in ppg each year since leaving LeBron by .8 to .6 so does this mean in 2019 he will drop down yet again to 23.2 ppg?

Okay I know so what about playoffs?

with LBJ 2016 ppg: 25 *Under LeBron Ball
with LBJ 2017 ppg: 26 *Under LeBron Ball
w/o LBJ 2019 ppg: 22 :(

2016 and 2017 = 7 playoff series wins (with LeBron)
2018 and 2019 = 1 playoff series win :( (without LeBron)

Will he ever match 7 playoff series wins? Will he ever get TWO series wins?

Product of LeBron. Once he left LeBron he became depressed when he realized that he can't lead like LeBron.

Kyrie just had his best season ever by a large margin both offensively and defensively, but sure he regressed lol

Kyrie is probably the biggest headcase in the entire league.

LeBron ball seemed to be a better fit for him if we look a little deeper

Kyrie's efficiency has dropped as well

Playoffs scoring

2016: 25 on 47% (Bron ball)
2017: 26 on 47% (Bron ball)
2019: 21 on 41% (Kyrie ball)

From the 2017 to 2019 playoffs he dropped 5 ppg and 6% FG

And his regular season ppg drops each year since leaving Cleveland...

I'm just posting the facts :confusedshrug:

Kyrie Irving is a second tier star at best and anyone who has ever said otherwise should be disregarded.

The talent is indisputably there, but his brain is always getting in the way. The talent is there to the extent that it was never impossible that he would become the best player in the world.

But again, his brain keeps getting in the way. You can't fix stupid. It is what it is. He has reached his ceiling... which is great... great second tier player that will never actually belong in an MVP conversation regardless if it happens again... but that's about it.

He's dumb. That's it.

I don't care if the Celtics win the title this year. Kyrie will still be dumb.

ATTENTION: Kyrie fans/LeBron haters, whatever you do, do NOT look at Kyrie's playoff Offensive Rating since leaving LeBron.

WARNING: These results may shock you

its not really being dumb..

he's a small dude.

Curry is far bigger, Curry..

At that size its impossible to boss an entire game as first option.

He picks his spots and takes over quarters, does his work off the main guy drawing some attention.

Ideal sidekick

What credibility do you have?

You were unaware that 89% of today's threes are open or wide open, and asked me to prove it, then ran away like a bitch when I did

So stfu. You don't know shit

Kyrie throwing that lob to Gordon Hayward was just idiotic. This dude really thinks he can jump like Lebron? Very talented player but BBIQ is questionable

You mean go back to dusting up younger guys in flip-flops as an old man, using behind-the-back gather steps?

That's all day son. You can get some too.. look me up the next time ur in Vegas

and I agree about kyrie - him and Mo Williams are the only all-stars that thrived next to lebron - because both were elite shooters

But that's the problem - lebron's skillset restriction to ball-dominance makes him SO reliant on one player type (shooters), that he ceded the best offenses, brand of ball and teams to others in his era, and struggled to compete on the championship level..

sorry, but that kind of skill limitation is nowhere near goat

care to explain how Kyrie is dumb and how he would play differently if he was smart and an example of a smart player as opposed to Kyrie for reference...

Too much dribbling. Granted he has great handles but it is easier to guard a guy dribbling than it is to guard quick ball movement.

His PPG has dropped because he's learned to become a better distributor (career high 7 APG this season). His efficiency the past 2 years has been better than it was in Cleveland and he could probably average 26-27 PPG if he really wanted to.
