Playoff fodder in the West, went to the East to form the first Big 3 and forced Bran to run to Miami...
Facts aside. I would have loved to see him paired with Kobe... from 06-2010........

Nah, Dwight did
KG was post-injury in 2010 and the team was hella old with only 50 wins - if bran had beaten Dwight in 09', it would've been a while new ball game in 10'

If we hadn't traded Allen for Marbury...we might have had the perfect ying/yang one of the better 1-2 combos in NBA history and would have won multiple championships.:(

If I'm not mistaken, this was right before game 7 against the Kings in 2004. If so, I remember the sports media trying to misconstrue KG's comments and create a narrative as though he was making light of actual war by comparing a "game" to it. They interviewed Vlade Divac who obviously was from a country that had been war torn for some while, and Vlade said something on the order of, "He doesn't know anything about real war."

well here i was thinking his comments would have been misconstrued in this era but i've guess they were misinterpreted back then as well :oldlol:

yea, but he generally shied away from the ball down the stretch

KG was a great player and would be the best player on many teams, but he wasn't a number 1 scoring option. The idiotic Timberwolves basically traded away the perfect player (Ray Allen) to be this number 1 option and play alongside him.

Garnett really had no go to moves. He could get really hot with his turn around jumper like he did throughout the 2008 playoffs until they met the Lakers. He just couldn't miss with it despite going up against Sheed who was the best post defender in the league. It was a streaky shot, though. It completely abandoned him vs the lakers as it was prone to do throughout his career. If Twolves would have just kept Ray Allen that duo could have accomplished some great things.

Webber was never that good to begin with. He was basically just a high volume scorer his entire time on the Kings. He always had to chuck up a bunch of shots to get his points. Never should have been a first option type of guy chucking away like that. All he had in the post was that ugly little hook shot. Mostly he just took those terrible short to min range jumpers and then got points off of offensive rebounds. I do think he was underrated as a defensive player and he was a very good passer and rebounder, but he just wasn't a first option type of talent.

in today's era, he'd pair up really well with DBook.

Booker is all stats and no impact right now, so we shall see. Ray Allen was regularly at the top in OBPM (led the league in 2001) throughout his prime. While he also wasn't a good defensive player, he also wasn't as close to as bad as Booker is and was decent on the Celtics. I think most of the reason for his lack of defense before the Celtics is really the teams he was on. The Bucks and Sonics were offensive teams with a weak defensive culture. Defense really wasn't being pushed on either of those teams by the coaching staff. He was always a good one on one defensive player when he wanted to be. It's team/help defense where he was basically useless as he just wasn't interested if his opposing player didn't have the ball.

I agree that Webber is overrated, saw most of their games back then. But he was useless after his injury, fans wanted his bloated contracted gone, and the Kings immediately traded him after.

The sad thing is that at the time it seemed like a great move trading Allen for Marbury. Marbury was a really good talent and it seemed like a great idea to pair KG with a franchise PG... Boy was that the wrong decision in hindsight.

that's what people say but when Booker was out for several weeks, we couldn't even sniff a W.
he comes back, Oubre is balling, and Tyler Johnson is playing like a decent point guard and all of a sudden Book is dropping 30-40 a night and we have some close games and a win over GSW and Bucks. kinda hard to win games without a point guard and 3pt shooters.
we actually have a 45% 3pt shooter (TJ Warren) but he was shut down which is kinda fvcked up bc he was only a couple 3pt shots away ffrom earning a $200k bonus.
