If it is possible Kawhi could sign a multi-year deal with a one year opt out with the assumption that he will opt out next year and sign with the Clippers. The multi-year is there to protect him in case of injury but it would essentially be a one-year extension. Kawhi gets to say he gave back one year of love to his Raptors fans and teammates and did not leave them hanging while the Raptors title contender window is still open but since that will effectively close after the expiring contracts of Lowry and Ibaka he then moves on and bows out gracefully with those guys and leaves the Raptors with a clear rebuilding situation. Everything is then clean and clear to all parties involved.

Because most players don't value winning and money over where they want to be in today's NBA. A lot of players don't want to play in Canada and live in the U.S. having to pay double taxes on their million dollar contracts. Look at LeBron, look at Durant, look at Kyrie, LeBron left the easy East to go be in L.A. and lay an egg. He doesn't even care at this point. Durant is going to leave the Warriors to go where he wants to play to get his money and be the alpha dog. Kyrie is going to do the same thing Durant is going to do.

Something that also doesn't' help him if the Paul George situation. Dude got won over by OKC, and it didn't work out this year for them because of the shitty play from Westbrook and the injury in the playoffs. Lowry has played like crap mostly in the playoffs.
