Just how good is Kyle Lowry on defense?

Last night I notice Toronto routinely allowing him to guard much bigger players 1 v 1 in the post, which says something about how much his coaches trust him on D.

He competes MANIACALLY hard to my eyes, moves his feet really well and has quick strong hands.

He also is one of those guys that seems to ALWAYS be in the mix, seems to have a great feel for diagnosing what plays are being ran and is constantly around the ball causing havoc.

Do my eyes deceive or is Kyle Lowry really good on defense?

He is definitely not an idiot on the defensive end. Despite hating on his inconsistency and his lack of killer instinct when it comes to big games, he does bust his ass defensively.
