The reason why Houston is tough is because the majority of the shots they shoot are 3 pointers. Either shoot 3s or drive for a lay up and get fouled. Defensively they focus on guarding the 3 point line.

But I guess they copied the Warriors to a degree and maybe it

make the lane smaller so post players can score easier. Post up shots arent close to 3's efficiency wise. Teams have just figured that out last few years so if you add on being a meh defender, you're unplayable if u're a post up scorer(see greg monroe and al jefferson and enes til he got better defensively).

Ignore the safety issues and make it really hard to draw fouls on jumpshots could help too. You can still be successful driving to the rim a lot however and getting fouls called. Free throws and layups are more efficient than 3's, problem is you'll never see a team that gets 80% of their points from layups and free throws so you need the 3 still. Nothing besides a 2.5 rule would make a 18 footer close in value to a 3pointer. This is really illuminating.
