View Full Version : The difference between Kobe and Kyrie

People say its similar performance to Kobe vs Detroit in 2004. But back then Kobe was guarded to perfection, while Kyrie was barely hitting the rim, airballing open shots, and missing around the rim shots that he always makes.

most of these shots were good decision making, high percentage looks.

It was unreal to watch him these games, as if the monstars took his shooting ability, or it was someone posing as kyrie. It might be that he sabotaged the team so that he would have an excuse not to resign. Otherwise this meltdown is inexplicable:confusedshrug:

Um...

The difference is one guy was playing with one of the greatest playoff performers in NBA history and tried to steal the show from him and failed miserably.

Unlike Kyrie who stole the show from Lebron? :lol

For whatever reason, it still remains Kobe was defended about ten times better than Kyrie against the Bucks. Kyrie is a supposedly better shooter (has more range at least) so what happened in the last three games is a complete mystery. Its not even that he was missing but how -most times he wasnt even close.

This. Height matters. It's near impossible for someone of that height to lead your team to the championship without other stars around you.

Yeah they both shoot midrange shots so they're the same player /s

Don't you read the insanely insightful high iq knowledge here that MJ in this era would literally be Derozan because they both shoot midrange shots?

Please keep up with the high level analysis that goes on here by your local 16 year old basketball history experts.

Read past the title ffs.

The difference is Kobe missed contested shots and Kyrie missed uncontested shots. nothing to do with height or tier (actually it does with tier, but Kyrie was supposed to be a shooter first and foremost)

That's not the point. They are similar type of players. Doesn't mean they're the same in terms of effectiveness. If Kobe was struggling the way Kyrie was last couple games, he would've made the same adjustments that Kyrie did: ie Keep shooting.

But in Kobe's defense, he never had a team with as much talent depth as this one. I'd like to believe that at least KB24 would've found a way to get them going more than Kyrie did.

And in Kyrie's defense, he wasn't shot jacking this bad when things were going bad in the regular season. He was putting in a lot of effort to get guys going in the regular season despite what the haters were saying about him.

that's all it is.

kyrie is 6'2 and kobe is 6'5.

kobe was also far more commuted and relentless on defense but we're only talking about offense here.
