why do we hype up bill russell/wilt chamberlain/oscar robertson if 60's accomplishments mean nothing

ok... but why are so many white guys except the "TOKEN JERRY WEST" buried in all time rankings
why is russell top 5 all time and heinsohn is barely looked at as a top 100 player
he averaged nearly 20/10 for his career

Because Bill Russell was 100 times the defensive player you albino ape. Everyone sucked offensively during that era, but no one came close to Russell defensively.

where do you rank dennis rodman all time... the best defender/rebounder on 5 title teams ( and 5 titles in the modern era are worth about 10 from the 60's )
why isn't michael cooper in the hall of fame
why is ben wallace overlooked so much
russell is an overrated clown... i'm done hyping his ass up
defense only matters if they like you

He wasn't the best defensive player on the bulls latter 3peat, Pippen was. He also had no business garnering those DPOY awards. He literally got them during Hakeem's peak defensively. That 1990 DPOY he got is especially a joke. That was the greatest defensive season EVER in the modern era by Hakeem. That they gave it to Rodman over him was a travesty.

sorry but rodman won the bulls the 96 finals and guarded malone in the next 2 finals. he was by far the most important defender
and defensive rebounding is a part of playing defense f*ckhead

Except it was Pippen's job on the perimeter that disrupted and boggled the Jazz offense in the 97 and 98 finals. Like Phil said after they destroyed the Jazz in that 96-54 game in the 98 finals...Pippen was a "one man wrecking crew". Pippen also had a team low 103 drating in that 96 finals. Rodman had a 107. Kemp basically did whatever he wanted vs Rodman in that 96 finals. Rodman made him look like a superstar.

Those aren't 1st option rings and you know it, so you have no case and your argument is basically disqualified - not enough 1st option rings... :confusedshrug:
And the reality is that MJ scored 10-20 more than his 2nd option in all Finals, so he wasn't scraping by like your stats - his rings were carry-jobs on offense - there's no comparison for anyone that won multiple rings

when Bill Russell retired the Celtics went from winning the chip to missing the playoffs. When MJ first retired Bulls went from 57 wins to 55. MJ was worth only 2 wins. Meanwhile Russell is the difference between a top lottery pick and a ring.

No one cared about "first option" rings until Jordan started winning titles. People understood that you could be your team's most valuable player while not necessarily being the leading scorer. Why do you think that Bill Walton, Wes Unseld, Magic, and Bird were able to win FMVPs in series where they didn't lead their teams in scoring?

agreed. i always thought pippen was the true leader on both ends... he ran the offense and the defense TBH
he just got russell'd into my top 10

So true. It's the entire basis 3ball uses to try and underrate a guy like Pippen. He just brings up points individually scored like that's all that matters despite the huge impact Scottie had on the Bulls overall.

sounds like you're sellin him a bit short considering how much you're hyping up defense with other guys and belittling jordans scoring
someones gotta get some credit for those 6 rings
you even tried trashing rodman... who gets the love?
if russells top 5 then surely pippen must be top 20 or so

Russell retired with other HOF's from that team.. it wasn't just Russell leaving the team
So another swing and a miss for you... That's more than 3 strikes but you can have more because I like striking you out
And the exact same lottery cast from 1989 won a three-peat in 1993 - so the talent was the same, but they improved their basketball/teamwork from lottery-level to 2nd round by 94'...
ultimately, MJ improved the lottery cast to ECF in 89', and improved the 2nd round team to 3-peat... That's goat.. :confusedshrug:..

Never once did I belittle Jordan's scoring, but okay. Never said I had Russell in my top 5 either. Saying Hakeem was a better defensive player who should have had Rodman's DPOY is just a fact. Got anymore twist on my words for me to destroy? I hope not as this is really growing dull and I want to get back to my book before I call it a night.

the celtics actually did better without him going 1-1
russell shot 34% fg's during the 4 games he played. no wonder they struggled

basically saying jordans points are overrated and given too much credit
would be like me saying "all people talk about is lebrons triple doubles when kyrie was saving the day. its not just about numbers"
then turning around and saying "how did i belittle lebrons triple doubles"

Who was the perimeter threat Pippen guarded in '96? Gimme a break. Of course his drating was great. LOL stat dorks.
