As it currently stands, Jordan only accumulated 30 total playoff series wins while LeBron accumulated 35 playoff series wins (and counting...2020).

As we all know LeBron is the GOAT playoff scorer and #1 player all-time

If MJ had won more playoff series would he have been able to catch LeBron?

Lebron's stats benefitted from deep runs in a weak conference that didn't require good teams to make the Finals from 01-09', when 5 weak teams made it (AI, Lebron, Dwight, Kidd 2) - and then Lebron stacked the deck to ensure Finals runs from 11-18', further inflating his stats

But his inflated totals resulted in far less rings, so his skills and stats are "empty"/less effective and miss their mark (winning) - similar to a suboptimal boxer that throws a ton of punches but fails to connect sufficiently, lebron's ball-dominance prevents his teams from playing a brand that can win frequently
.

If he played in a weak conference that didn't require a great team to make the Finals like Lebron's East, then yes, he would've won more playoff series, specifically 4 every year

What? I'm just asking if Jordan was able to win more playoff series instead of 1-9 and losing to the Pistons 3 years in a row and instead of only making 6 Finals would he be able to catch LeBron for GOAT scorer that's all :confusedshrug:

MJ won 6 titles as the man with the franchise that drafted him. Lebron won 1 title joining a franchise player and won because of a suspension but embarrased the USA in the olympics winning bronze medal and lost to Dwight Howard with HCA.

And perhaps if MJ didn't underperform and win more playoff series and make more finals appearances he would have the records, but he's not the goat scorer and he's definitely not the goat.

will the next GOAT be back to the model of Russell? Essentially passing the ball and assists are players similarity and likeliness to you.

as to this topic, play off series is just an indication of their franchises. LeBron was good at picking the losers that have yet been capitalized, hence the soft cap lottery system.

OP, please asterisk the first post. LeBron didn't have the luxury of making the playoffs with a 30-52 and 38-44 record respectively (LeBron missing the playoffs with a 35-47, 42-40 and 37-45 record) where MJ was allowed to pad his stat totals

QUESTION:

If MJ won as many playoff series as LeBron and/or made as many Finals would he have been able to finally catch LeBron?

QUESTION 2:

Does three 1st round exits have its consequences?

Good morning, Bron boys stay winning :dancin

Does OP realize that Bron start pro ball out of high school and Jordan went to college ???

Does OP realize that MJ played baseball and was basically out of bball for 3 years ???

Does OP know that those 30 playoff games generated 6 rings .... one of the fewest players in the history of the league to have 30 games and 6 chips.

Kobe & Jordan weren't facing the 41-win Wizards, 40-win Celtics or 38-win Bucks in the first round..

No

Not at Lebron's lower ppg level unless they played the exact same number of games

And not at MJ's much higher level either - with MJ scoring an additional 5 ppg, he wouldn't just "catch" Lebron, he'd easily surpass him
