This is why I hate the basketball HOF. The other sports, their selections are almost all no brainers. Logic should dictate that if you even have to ask if someone's a HOF, they shouldn't be one.
Iggy, very good player, instrumental to the Warriors dynasty, helped swing the 2015 Finals. HOF though? Even basketball ref has his HOF probability at .0610%, behind Marbury

The only Finals MVP who isnt in (or wont make) the Hof as it stands is Cornbread Maxwell.

If you think Iggy is anything close to a HOF player you should just stop watching basketball.

I havent given my opinion either way. I'm asking ISH if they think he will make the HoF based on his achievements :confusedshrug:

this is a no brainer too. Very good player like countless others. Not an all time great

That's called a correlation, not a causation: most Finals MVPs earn it because they're hall-of-fame level talents, but the award in itself isn't nearly enough to plausibilize their candidacy. Occasionally, above-average role-players can win it because they fit a more attractive narrative or because their team's superstar underperforms, and you can chalk up Iggy's, who's among the worst-ranked awardees, to a combination of the two: Curry started off the series irredeemably, and Iggy's insertion in the starting lineup coincided with the turnaround.
If players of Iggy's caliber made the Hall of Fame, its value would be stretched thin. No more than several NBA players are inducted every year as it is, and virtually that amount of Iggy's teammates alone have a better case than him.

Robbed of a Dunk Contest
3 time champion
One of the best role players in NBA history on a legendary dynasty
I think he's a lock. This isn't Robert Horry.
According to Hamtaro he was just as good as Scottie Pippen in his prime so obviously he'll make the HOF

People in here acting like Andre Iggy wasn't once an allstar caliber player. Most people in this thread probably weren't even aware of Iggy's existence until he started playing for the warriors smfh.

Finals MVP
Not denying that it's a boon to his legacy; it's just not nearly enough to establish his candidacy on its own. No singular accolade is enough to do so, and the rest of Iggy's trove has been outachieved by hundreds of other players—both in the NBA and overseas.
Robbed of a Dunk Contest
What voting panelists even factor in these tawdry ASG awards, much less snubs thereof? Players might get plenty of plaudits for them during the event, but very few ultimately even remember them off-hand when discussing a player's legacy.
3 time champion
Which has been accomplished by more than a few of his teammates alone, and none of them are even shoo-in Hall of Famers apart from Curry and Durant.
One of the best role players in NBA history on a legendary dynasty
This isn't the 1960s where the Hall of Fame standards were liberal enough for half of the Celtics dynasty to make it; the bar has been heightened since with the influx of talent the league's seen since, and no less in today's 30-team, multinationally talented league.
Iggy just isn't out-of-the-pack, and it's not because he isn't a good player in a vacuum; it's because there are only several NBA inductees per year at the most, and too many others outrate him.
I think he's a lock. This isn't Robert Horry.
If you think Iggy has a Hall of Fame case, I can agree to disagree; but if you're overreaching insofar as calling him a lock, I can only advise that you try following more of the league and studying more of its history to have some remote perspective on how many worthier candidates there are.

Iggy was a vital component on a legendary dynasty, much like Rodman. He's a lock. The Finals MVP seals it

In this era yes, in the 90's and early 2000's no way. You had to be top 3 player in the league to get league and/or finals mvp.

Great great player in Philly
Shiny resume with GSW
Olympic champ and finals MVP
Defensive star

This x100
People act like this fool wasn't touted as a Lebron-lite in his Philly days
And this latest series he was terrific. He guarded Harden, CP3, and LeBron well because he knows all 3 of them get very good ref treatment. Those 3 push off and snap their head back a lot, so Iguodala exaggerates their push offs just enough to show the refs what they are doing. This gives him some cushion from refs calling a foul on him. Very high IQ player.

Iggy will get in similar to Manu Ginobili, as a Dynasty-tier sixth man. The kicker is he won a FMVP while Manu won in International Competition.

lol Ginobili was a vastly superior player with a much bigger impact throughout his career whether he came off the bench or not.

1) Insert player who did absolutely nothing before joining a great team.
2) Win a few titles while being at the very best the 4th best player.
3) Is he a HOF?
About how it always goes.

Iggy was a 1 time allstar and wasn't even the best player on that team in that series.:oldlol:
Iggy posted incredible averages of
12 ppg on 35.1%/21.7%/78.9%
5.8 rpg
3.5 apg
1.8 spg
"single handedly"

He never has any idea what he is talking about. That or he has the worst memory of all time. Every take he gives is basically wrong.
based on stats alone, no.
however, the HOF does not focus solely on stats, and iggy does have things on his resume that might interest the selection committee, which have been watering down the entire process for a while.
i wouldn't be surprised if he does make it some day.
