The thing that's particularly bad about this instance is that the officer vocally acknowledges he thinks it's a cap gun based on the sound before he even sees anyone.

He either wanted to pull the trigger, or maybe the kid turned towards him and he panic shot.

Either way, not a good look for the officer.

Oh well, this is no big deal. The media narrative pushing of cops shooting blacks is over... so it won't get national news, despite being maybe one of the most unjustified shootings we've seen to date...

Cause a lot of the ones that sparked outrage were 100% justified lol.

Michael Brown, Eric Garner(I CANT BREATHE!!!)... lol, justified... cops were 100% right.

This kid? Nope. Not even a little bit justified. Shit cop. Deserved to be fired if not jailed.

Officer still on force.
District Attorney determined shooting was *justified.*
Family cant afford medical bills.
Including a $1300 ambulance ride!
Child missed 3 weeks of 8th grade.

therein lies the problem. DA's backing police every single time even when all facts from an unbiased point of view point towards a bad shoot.

this fkkt police still on the streets.

there's a serious problem with police in this country, and it's not always a race issue, it's more of an authority issue. the government has allowed them to be powerful. there's a serious problem when a police can barge into your home unannounced and shoot you. it's private property, gtfo of my land you fkn pig.

I heard the other cop yelling, "This is the police department. Come on out." like 20 seconds before the shooting.

The cap gun thing means nothing. Even if it was a real gun, there’s no legitimate reason to shoot the kid.

The cop didn’t even identify himself as the police. From the kid’s perspective, it’s just some guy yelling through the fence.

Should've shot his parents too.

Aside from the cop doing wrong, why would you give your kid a gun, even if it's not real? Especially in a country where everyone can have a CC permit.

Thats right, it was the victims fault for being shot :applause:

I've seen photos of the bb gun, looks exactly like a Glock 19 from more than 10 feet away. But the cop damn well knew that they probably only had BB guns or cap guns from the start and gave no warning before he started to fire. He should be fired, as he's way too prone to panic instead of rational thinking.

A cop friend of mine told me police departments don't like to hire people who hunt or recreational shoot unless they have military experience because it's too hard to break what they see as bad habits. He said if they can't get people with military experience they'd rather have someone with no firearms experience at all. But even people with military experience don't always know what they're doing. I had a friend in the military who put 8 stitches in his eye from the scope of my rifle because he didn't know what he was doing. People who grew up shooting a gun, would be a lot less prone to panic in these situations. Just because there's a firearm involved is not necessarily a reason to lose your mind.

and that would justify killing a teenager? he may have said it in his own presence or surrounding but not hte person hes killing. I guess the law and morons who back cops only see things from the cops point of view.

majority of kids growing up in america had bb guns, if not paint ball guns, if not those two then definitely cap guns.

It’s time to privatize all police departments. This is a great example of government and public worker incompetence.

Dude, the cops would be 100 times worse if they were privatized. The incentives to cover up shit would be massive.

No, the victim is a 14 year old, who doesn't think too much about consequences. I'm talking about the parents.

Do you think it's smart to give kids a "toy" that looks like a real gun?

Would you be surprised if your kid dies in an accident, when you give it a pit bike at age 14?

More likely to be fired as they aren't protected by police unions.

Of course I'm not, but it's a simple action-reaction thing and only logical that a gun will have no upsides in the hands of a 14 year old.

The only message sent by system: Dont be black, in a backyard, & play w/ a BB gun.

The problem is the black community rallies over shootings that are probably justifiable, just because they were black. Doesn't matter if the guy was scum, "he din do nuffin". When a real tragedy happens, like it appears to be in this case, nobody cares anymore because we've become numb to it. It's the boy who cried wolf
