View Full Version : King in the East: An impressive 8-year run

A taste of the Eastern Conference without LeBron James just goes to show how dominant his epic 8-year reign truly was. It's wide open now.

Who will be the next to rule the East for 8-years? Giannis? Kawhi? Embiid? Durant (if he goes to the Knicks)?

Jordan ruled the East for 3 years in a row, which was impressive for the weak 90s era but LeBron was able to rule his conference for 8 years straight.

Only lebron teamed up with 2 other stars, so only he made a bunch of Finals

09' Dwight would've made a bunch if he teamed up with Wade and Bosh - but dwight MADE the Finals that year, so he didn't see the need to team-hop

And lebron only beat the West 3 times (3/9), so that proves he'd make 3 Finals in a career out West and his Finals appearances are conference-dependant

Actually he had 2 perennial all-stars, an equal-scoring teammate and closer

and it was only 1 win in 4 tries, so worse than the odds predicted (underachievement)

LeBron unlocked star potential in Kyrie. Kyrie these past couple year has proven that he is not a star. Only LeBron can unlock that potential in him. MJ unfortunately couldn't do the same with Pippen's offense because of his need to score an arbitrary number higher than his 2nd option.

Jordan went to 6 Finals in 8 years (interrupted by that retirement/baseball thingy) but won 6 in 8 years...

LeBron went to 8 straight Finals and didn't nab not even a 50% win rate :(

So Jordan grabbed double the titles LeFraud got going to 2 less Finals? :wtf:

At this rate, LeCollude needs to go to 9 more Finals to equal MJ's chip total...:lol

MJ ruled the Eaat for 3 years and then took 2 years off for load managment :(

2004 - missed playoffs

2005 - missed playoffs despite the East all-star center on his team

2006 - 2nd round elimination

2007 - 2-seeded Cavs beat 1-seeded Pistons to make Finals (lebron averaged 21 on 41% outside of game 5; 25 on 45% overall)..... then 22 on 36% in Finals sweep loss

2008 - 26 on 35% in ecsf loss

2009 - loses with 60-win 1 seed

2010 - loses with 60-win 1 seed (record - no one ever lost with 60-win 1 seed for two straight yrs)

Then said "fck this, I can't handle being such a loser" and teamed up with the #2 and #4 players in PER aka the best small forward and shooting guard in the league

Giannis is running through the East with a poor man's Bradley Beal as his 2nd option. The East added all these stars and the Celtics were actually healthy too... makes James' 8 straight Finals look like a joke.

Having the mental fortitude and toughness to make 8 straight >>>>>> having to quit and refuel after 3 straight.

Except they didn't beat a healthy 73-win team.

After going down 1 - 3

No Green for Game 5 (their best player in the series)
Bogut injured in Game 5 and out for the rest of the series
Iguodala injured in Game 6 and played hurt in Game 7

The injury gods have almost always been on Lebron's side. Whenever his team falls down in a series, the gods find a way to benefit his team, whether it's the 2013 or the 2016 Finals. How convenient for Lebron in 2017 that IT has a hip injury after an MVP-like season and loses his sister right at the start of the Playoffs. How convenient for Lebron that Derrick Rose goes from an MVP to a role player when it seemed like they would be fighting for titles for the next decade.

fair he's been lucky. I dont think you should bring up Gasol in 2015 for missing a few games and playing injured when Love didnt even play the series however. Also what about Bosh in 2012? Legitimately the main reason the Heat didnt dominate eastern conference teams like "they should have with their talent" that year.
