Trump really did Ben Carson wrong; he would have been better positioned as Surgeon General or Secretary of Health and Human Services. It feels like he set Carson up for failure by putting him in a position for which he was out of his depth and area of expertise. Say what you want about him, but Carson was a brilliant surgeon... I'm not sure why Trump wouldn't want to at least try to play to his strengths. It doesn't matter if, even when you hire the best people, you don't put them in positions where they can actually be effective.
