No, MJ himself said that he "didn't want to excel at it" (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=c2CyJdCq-zU&t=0m07s) because he thought it hurt the rest of his game
But he still excelled at threes when it mattered - 43% on 3.3 attempts in 91-93' Finals and 35.2% on 2.2 attempts in 85-93' playoffs....
And he excelled anytime he tried - he attempted less than 1.5 attempts every year, except 90/93 with 3+ attempts at 38% and 35%

There were better 3 point shooters in MJ's own era who were exponentially worse players and tiers below in terms of career success. I'm not sure how not shooting ten 3's a night at 40% like today's modern shooting guard was supposed to make him more successful than he ended up in the era he played. He wins 12 scoring titles instead of 10( he was either a rookie, injured, returning from retirement or 40 years old for the only seasons he didn't win it)? 7 championships instead of 6? 6 MVPs instead of 5? His team won 74 games instead of 72 because of a different ball bounce on a couple of the games they lost by less than 5? Being a better 3 point shooter would have done....what...exactly? Help him further lap the field on all but 4-5 players in the history of the league? What are we arguing here?

It would've helped him win more playoff series in which he could have been successful in padding stat totals while losing more playoffs aka the LeGOAT standard.

Stats prove that Jordan was a good 3PT shooter when he shot them with some volume
RS
1990 - 37.6% 3.0 3PA
1993 - 35.2% 2.9 3PA
1993 Playoffs - 38.9% 3.9 3PA, shot 40% in the Finals with 4.2 attempts. Averaged 38.7% for the 91-93 3-Peat.
So it shows that MJ had a respectable 3PT% whenever he shot them with volume. It's reasonable to think that if he practiced his 3PT shot more to adapt to this era that he would be a threat from that distance, how else do you explain him shooting above 38% for 3 straight title runs?

He would be Jeff Hornacek if he focused on three point shooting.
