View Full Version : 2019 Finals officially ASTERISKED!

StrongLurk

Kevin Durant is ruled out for game 1, and he probably will miss more. Of course Cousins is missing as well, we don't even need to get into that.

Really the only one to gain from these finals is Curry. This Warriors team is even worse than the 2016 finals one and maybe even 2015 team since their depth isn't as good and neither is their defense.

No one on the Raptors will gain anything by beating a team without the reigning two-time finals MVP in KD, not even including Cousins missing :confusedshrug:

Unfortunately I agree. Only Curry can gain from this and KD prolly secretly wants the Warriors to lose if he doesnt play

There is no such thing as an asterisk ring. Injuries are part of the game. Sometimes they go against you. Sometimes they work in your favor. Only stans with agendas talk about asterisks.

steph, dray n klay were enough to win 73 games.

they were enough to finish off the rockets and sweep the blazers in the wcf.

they are undefeated without durantula and the completely irrelevant cousins in these playoffs.

I already mentioned the 2015/2016 teams were better than the 2019 Warriors without Durant/Cousins.

They have less depth and defense now than 15/16.

The Raptors will be playing a team not CLOSE to full strength just like the Warriors against in the Cavs in 2015.

I mean, we are talking about the REIGNING two time FMVP who is the best player in the league right now missing finals games.

The Warriors are still one of the BEST teams without him.

Maybe THE best.

Their bench has played well these playoffs too. Without Durant, they're what, 6-0? Including a sweep vs a pretty good Blazers team.

There is no "asterisk" you fool. Durant is a luxury. Not a necessity.

If Leonard leads the Raptors over the current Warriors, sans KD, without league assistance or injuries. Unlike say 2016.

It will be more impressive than LeBron’s 2016 Finals depending on his individual level of performance.

Nah this Warriors team is the original Warriors team. Same as the 73-9.

No Cousins is ok, he don't fit into this Warriors small ball/death lineup.

No Durant doesn't matter too because Durant is just a luxury benefit, but not necessary.

However, with Durant, he really kick Toronto's ass tho... avged 40 points in 2 games this year.

Bruh, claiming Kawhi has nothing to gain from these Finals is almost trolling. A win over these Warriors, even without Durant, would be absolutely huge for his resume/legacy, and would pretty much solidify him as the BITW

And if Klay or Dray were to win FMVP that'd be big for them too

ImKobe
05-29-2019, 12:24 PM
Wouldn't call it an asterisk honestly, though you couldn't say that Kawhi beat a healthy Warriors squad or potentially ended a dynasty because their best player was injured, but his ring would still have a lot of value because the Warriors have 3 all-stars and the Bucks and Sixers team before that were great as well.

Curry obviously has the most to gain if he continues dominating and wins his first FMVP, it would be a great boost to his legacy.

It'd obviously be huge for Kawhi, but this is a massive opportunity for Curry. Another title with a FMVP, especially with Durant out or in a limited role, and he could legitimately stake claim as a top 15 player of all time; leaving him an opportunity to potentially end up in the top 10 if he continues to have success & play at an elite level after this season
