2016 Finals Series Thread was a 3 week warzone with material and highlights for years
We had cats here weeping and begging mods to stop allowing users bump their countless "2/7" threads. Were talking hundreds :lol
The usual most butthurt ones (Straitght_Altin, PicklenRoller, Stalker) tucked tail and bolted from the forum for 6+ months until their estrogen levels dropped.
With the overwhelming drop in Kobe stans and their alts, Jeff encouraged mods to wipe clean hundreds of these 2015-16 bumped threads. Including the Finals thread
Like sewer rats, many crawled back out. Just as Admin anticipated, user activity came back to normal

I rooted for the Cavs in that series, Bran played well but if Kyrie doesn't dominate Curry and score almost 30 ( ) as the second option, they don't win shit...funny how LeStans don't give KI any credit for his amazing Finals

They lose credibility when they tout a dude as the GOAT when he has lost twice the amount of Finals that he has won :lol If Wilt had won 4 or 5 (didn't even have to go 6/6) of the 6 Finals he went to, he'd be the consensus GOAT most likely, he certainly has the stats and the records...BTW, he should be Top 5 but he doesn't seem to get a lot love here.
In no other sport does a GOAT get away with that, Tom Brady is getting the GOAT talk but had he gone 3 for 9, no effing way people would be saying that, he would most likely get the choker label...Jim Kelly went to 4 straight SBs, lost everyone and they weren't even his fault, no one mentions him as a GOAT, you don't get brownie points for coming in second you millennial incels :lol Yeah, life ain't fair, snowflakes

Brady wouldn't be GOAT because he'd only have 3 titles. He wouldn't get penalized further for making 6 additional Super Bowls. This notion that LeBron would've been better off with 3 titles but less Finals appearances is just idiotic

GOAT standards are different. You can't be considered the greatest if you lose more championship series than you win.
Most of us already understand that not all Finals appearances are created equal. Kobe going to 7 in the tough Western Conference is more impressive than Lebron making 8 straight in the weaker Conference because Kobe had to beat the Spurs 4 times to get there. You rarely have an easy round in the Western Conference, you might be playing a 50-win team with multiple stars in the first round even as a #1 seed.
If Brady choked in 6 additional SBs to the 3 that he won, there's no one that would put him in the GOAT convo, he would be known for choking a bunch of times. He still gets penalized for losing in 2007. He wouldn't be viewed as the GOAT if he lost to the Seahawks & Falcons. He's viewed as a GOAT because he's great when the stakes are highest.
And it's not like Lebron won those 3 titles in convincing fashion. He stumbled to the Finals in 2012 in a lockout season that had older teams like the Spurs & Celtics at a disadvantage, he needed the Spurs to miss 2 FTs and give up an offensive rebound that would go to Ray Allen just to extend the series. He needed the Warriors to have their best player in the series suspended on top of 2 other players getting injured to make a comeback.
Jordan mostly dominated the Playoffs and never faced elimination in the Finals. You can't say he was lucky to win 6.

Bro, you don't get extra points for coming in second repeatedly :facepalm

3/9 is bad, it only confirms that LBJ was getting through a garbage conference and once he got to the Finals, his teams were exposed.

Believe me, if Brady or Jordan were 6-7 in Super Bowl's/Finals, they'd still be considered GOAT. Brady losing in the first round to Mark Sanchez is worse than losing the Super Bowl

Football's so much different, but losing 1-2 Finals isn't the end of the world, but losing 6 out of 9 Finals? With two of those wins coming off all-time great shots you didn't hit? You can't tell me that Lebron was supposed to lose in 2011 and 2014. Heat could have been up 2 - 0 on the Spurs had he not cramped up in the first game. They stole a game on the road and laid an egg for 3 straight home games. He lost 3 straight to a Mavs squad with one all-star while his teammate was putting up Jordan numbers..after all he said to the media and what he did his first year in Miami. Unforgivable.
That's the difference between Jordan and Lebron. Jordan hit most of the big shots in the Finals (Lebron's hit zero game-winners/game-tying shots in 9 Finals) and put up better numbers in WINS. Never allowed a Game 7. Never got outplayed by an opposing player or his own teammate.
That's just impossible to beat. The Finals appearances just aren't that impressive because all the contenders have been out West. How many all-time greats did Lebron beat in the EC in these years? Paul George? Derrick Rose that one year? Demar Derozan? Pierce and KG on their last legs in their mid-30s?

- Swept by the same Spurs team Kobe beat in 5 games
- 2011
- losing to ancient Spurs 3 straight games at home, same team that got taken to 7 by Mavs
- outplayed by Iguodala at home up 2 - 1 on the Warriors
I thought he was a threat after the 2016 Finals, but add two more Finals losses and missing the Playoffs to the list on top of Curry and Durant passing him all-time and he's not even top 10 anymore.
