I'll leave the obvious jokes to you for now and simply say.....

Is it any wonder how team building works now and going forward?

All these kids know eachother their whole lives from AAU and summer tournaments and so on. No more pockets of good kids that dont meet up with the other elites. If youre great....you end up with other great kids somewhere along the way.

The group of kids coming up now are gonna be planning to team up in the NBA while they are 14.

Im waiting for teams go to full AAU and just empty rosters every year or two and offer max money for 2 years with the freedom it gives the players being a selling point right alongside the basketball advantages.

Imagine 4-5 years from now a team has a 135 million dollar cap with 22 million in salary claimed and send in the tamperers(agents) to let Ja and Zion know they can team up(again...they played AAU one summer) without longterm obligation and pick their own coach and each bring their best free agent friend role players.

Give Zion a plus 2 to pick any role player friends he likes....Ja gets the same deal. 2 years each. Run the franchise...if it doesnt work....move on.

All these guys are friends going forward. Youre gonna have to cater to it like it or not.

These superteams are still going to get beat time and time again by teams with good coaching and stars that put team basketball before personal glory.

Why is this different than, say, if right now The Knicks are offering Durant and Kyrie the same chance. The 'friend' angle doesn't seem to change anything in the equation when people are teaming up regardless.

Yea teams are seeing the way to go now....I just dont know that there will be many other ways to do it long term.

Tanking might not even be the primary way to rebuild for long. Teams may end up seeing who drafted a player as the team developing him for them. Theres so much money on rookie deals now players are forever rich before they get that first big offer everyone in history took before KP.

Zions rookie deal is gonna be for like 45 million dollars. Ayton makes 16.4 in the last season of his rookie deal if he doesnt choose to extend. Zion will be 17-18 million....on top of nike money? He might make 70-80 million before his rookie deal is up.

Less incentive to sign the first big offer if the team hes on isnt good and fun to play with.

I wanna see how our current group of young guys act at the end of their rookie deals. We may see an era of guys taking the qualifying offer and going into unrestricted free agency Porzingis style because they make so much money off the rookie deal they can afford to just superteam it right away.

When that happens what is the draft but selecting a guy to groom for bigger things elsewhere?

Puts a fire under a GM I guess. Better be good in 3 years or all that celebrating on draft lottery night was for nothing.

You just paid a guy 50 million to help him blossom into a star for the Nets who get a finished product with none of the work.

Nah, Bronny was going to Sierra Canyon no matter what. It wasn't a secret bruh, everyone plugged in, even 1/5th plugged in SoCal Prep Hoops knew that.

Zaire came to Sierra to play with Bronny this time around.

Sierra is going to be one of the elite High Schools in the Nation...again.

In all honesty, Zaire isn't very very good and Bronny is still a freshman. But Sierra Canyon has talent with Amari Bailey, Terren Frank, Hai-Jeing Wou (7'1 iirc) and are reportedly going to get another top transfer and might get Ziaire Williams, one of the most underrated players in the Class of '20.

Andre Chevalier is also a damn good coach

Even if they get all three, Cali's state title is a three-team race between them, Rancho Christian (starring the best player in '20 with Evan Mobley and guys like Dominic Harris [Zaga], Luke Turner, Jordan Montgomery) and Mater Dei (Gary McKnight might be the GOAT HS Coach, plus they have guys like Devin Askew, Aidan Prukop, Harrison Hornery, Wilhem Breidenbach-Dortz, Ryan Evans AND will get another transfer or two).

So you’re saying wades son knew bronny would go there and was waiting or did I misunderstand?

This is clearly a major basketball school. They just happen to both be there or was it the plan?

When Bron signed with the Lakers, every single person out here knew that Bronny was going to end up at Sierra Canyon High School. Canyon is in a beautiful location, has a nice campus, and is one of the best basketball schools in the nation. They are also no stranger to NBA kids/relatives as two years ago they had Duane Washington Jr. (Derek Fisher's nephew), KJ Martin (Kenyon Martin's son), Scottie Pippen Jr. (Pippen's son) & Terren Frank (dad played in the NBA). All but Washington (Ohio St) were the last year. Frank will be there next year.

When Bronny enrolled in Crossroads for 8th grade, everyone was surprised, but, still, knew that he'd end at Sierra Canyon.

Zaire transferring to Sierra had to do with exposure, in my opinion. He gets to play in, arguably, the best high school area in the nation, for one of the top teams and coaches, while having a legit shot of winning a State title. He currently holds D1 offers, iirc, and that will certainly increase in Chatsworth.

Edit: I cover HS sports, so that's why I can go deep in detail.

we'll see if these kids can actually make the league and play at a high level.

the superior basketball genetics from their respective fathers may have been diluted by the genes from their mothers - may have gotten a little kobe from the mother's side

I can see Bronny being a good player in the NBA.

Zaire, not so much.

But still plenty of time to improve
