I thought Deandre Ayton could shoot threes?

Last year during the draft, Ayton was being hyped up as the clear #1 pick and people were praising the fact that he could shoot the three. He shot 34% in college averaging 1 three per game....so why did he only attempt 4 three pointers in his rookie year (missing all of them)? Yes the NBA 3 is further out than the college three, but ain't this a bit surprising for anyone else?

Because he is an absolute weapon down low and the Suns don't know how good a player they've got down there? Why would he step out and shoot a three?

The reports that I read said he was a good mid-range shooter. I didn't see a lot of people saying he was a knock down 3 point shooter.
