this is very true... but ultimately no amount of awareness would have been able to avoid this horrific accident, sometimes you just get ****ed...

That's a whole other level of reckless driving. Not trying to run a red light or cut some body off.
That's murder or attempted murder right there.

I find people who drive large pick ups have a sense of superiority on the road and often play road bully.
Was it confirmed man was drunk driving?

i took an advanced defensive driving course. there's zero you could have done to avoid this. i mean, there's like 1% chance she could have switched lanes but that would require her to have been watching her rear view mirror and her brain registering it asap. i don't think it happens. what a tragic situation and apparently it's the guy's SECOND DUI.
sucks that you can do everything right and be minding your business only to be killed by some ****ing idiot. driving has to be the most underrated and dangerous thing we do every day. we get in 5000lb metal vehicles and driving among other people and trust them not to be idiots. all the while other people are texting, applying make up, or driving distracted in some other way. i can't wait for self-driving cars to take over, they dramatically reduce the amount of vehicle accidents.

With the rate of speed that guy was going, DUI was not my first thought.
My first thought was that his accelerator got stuck... because mine has... on I95... truck was trying to go full throttle and I was slamming on the brakes and it wasn't disengaging... was panicked as **** weaving in and out of traffic... I told my friend he was going to have to jump and I was going to get the speed down as much as I could with the brakes...
Luckily I started also trying to slam my foot on the accelerator after about 20 seconds and it got unstuck...
This video is one of the many reasons that I feel very strongly against alcohol. It's for people that are emotionally crippled. It's certainly worse than some of the drugs that are currently deemed illegal.

How in the actual fukk can you be drunk and drive at that speed
Only time I ever drove drunk, New Year's Eve in TJ at my aunt's, had too many Patron tequilas, she told us to stay but me and my wife snuck out and drove away...by this time I hadn't had a drink in like more than an hour and I had drunk coffee and wasn't feeling that drunk anymore but I obviously would've been over the limit had a cop stopped me...it was 5 in the morning and I drove through streets where I wouldn't have to drive fast, avoided all freeways and drove very slowly...right before I get to my block, Tijuana police just finished their check point shift, a couple of minutes earlier and they get me...
Yeah it was stupid and reckless, never will do something like that again and haven't since, this was over a decade ago.
RIP to the victim :(

maybe maybe in this particular instance he/she didn't have a chance to get out of the way .. I heard he was going 130 ? if that's true it would've been tough .. but if you're keeping an eye usually you can catch the car from a distance coming way too fast and you have a chance to move the fk out of the way .. she probably wasn't looking at all .. well I just hope she didn't suffer in any way and she lost consciousness quickly

also why i prefer driving a truck and am hoping to upgrade to a much bigger one. not that a truck would have survived being hit at 130mph but you will walk away from alot more accidents than being in a small sedan.

according to a post of yours...
Three come to mind for me. In order of absolute worst to least worst.
2. I once took a girl out I worked with and we went to this local bar where a bunch of co-workers were at as well. We bumped into a few old classmates and when you bump into old classmates, you buy each other a few rounds. So the drinking began. And it continued. And it continued some more. Fast forward and I drive her back to her house and we're both beyond drunk out of our minds. So we go to her room and I begin to undress her. I get on top of her and start going at it, and within seconds she falls fast asleep. So of course I pull out and put my pants back on and fall asleep next to her. A few hours later in the middle of the night, I wake up with an irresistible need to throw up. Her house is pitch black dark and I can't see shit. I made it to the kitchen before I puked all over her floor. Couldn't find the light switch so I couldn't clean it up. Went back in the room, got my things, and drove home.

What part of slamming on the brakes and it not disengaging don't you get? The cruise control was still lit up on the dash, also. I thought it was the computer that wasn't going to let up.
When you're in a panicked situation like that, you're going to do your best to save your friend, dumbass.
Now that it's happened to me once, there is a longer mental checklist that I will go through before I arrive at "ok I think it may be time to jump" but when that has literally never happened and you don't see a way out, it's going to be a thought rather than hitting a wall at maximum speed you complete and utter dipshit moron.
Brakes... doesn't work... try hitting the accelerator repeatedly... doesn't work... try putting it in neutral... things like that... if none of those things work, it's time to consider jumping.

How fast were you traveling? Jumping out of a moving car and especially at a high rate of speed is probably just as worse as staying in there.
I've played this scenario out in my head a few times before when I'm on the road. I always imagined that the best idea was to get on to the shoulder and rub up against the guardrail (if applicable) until you came to a complete stop.

I did a little digging...we make up 39% of the population in CA, whites are just under us at 38%...
We make up basically half (48%) of all DUI arrests while whites are at 38%, right in line with their percentage of the population. We are over represented in DUI arrests bruh, can't spin it.

Perps survive because their reflexes are inhibited. It's the act of tensing up that most often gets people killed in these accidents.
Best chance if you see it coming is to let go of the steering wheel and stay as far away from the doors as possible. The reverberations of the impact through the frame onto a tensed body are terrible.
Gotta try and ragdoll, but that's defying instinct, unless you're fvcked up of course.

Wow. One of the worse accidents I've seen. Seems as if the truck went on top of her car and ripped the roof off before dispatching itself separately.
This is my fear of driving and being on the road. What's for you is for you. There's nothing we can do to change the outcome. I'm always looking in my rearview, I recently stopped but need to get back in the habit of it.
