We all know the media did this to screw over Curry. Let's be real.

This happened 4 years ago and they STILL use this talking point to prop up the Warriors as "stacked". Still believe they did this to try to minimize how amazing Curry is.

Iggy is a really good basketball player. But referring to him as an MVP oversells the player he is. Let's be honest.

It's like telling your friends you're getting some gourmet burgers for them even though it's from the McDonalds menu :lol

2018-2019 Season:

PPG: 5.7
REB: 3.7
AST: 3.2

2014-2015 (Finals MVP Season)

PPG: 7.8
REB: 3.4
AST: 3.2

Iggy's finals MVP doesn't hold any weight anymore anyway, seeing as he's now 35 years old and nowhere near the same player he was back then.

Probably because he was "A Finals MVP off the Bench."

He only got FMVP because lebron was his assignment.

Not really rocket science for those that watched the 2015 Finals

Lebron was feasting on Barnes through the first 3 games, Cavs went up 2-1

Gm 4 Kerr adjusted and started Iggy the first time all year, dropped 22pts and held Lebron to 20 pts, (after averaging 40ppg through 3)

It swung the series in GSW favor going back to Oracle, winning gm 5 + 6 with Iggy at tipoff

Went from playing 25mpg all playoffs to 40mpg in Finals, Cavs were 1 shot away in Gm 1 and OT from going up 3-0

That's why he won FMVP, that's why him and LBJ split votes

Because they have to say interesting stuff. Any stuff. It's better than dead air.

Really, that's the reason.

It's like when they casually say something like, "Shaq, obviously a hall of fame center, throwing it down showing us why he's called the big diesel." when Shaq was already old and useless.

Hmmm....

You're a smart poster. Can you tell me more about this? Is this a trend?

why do they still say it??? Even with Klay injured and Looney down, the analysts still say it.

Iggy's a role player at this point, a role player who struggles making wide open 3s and FTs.

This is why some posters don’t deserve a submit button. Why do people call a Finals MVP a Finals MVP? See, now you’re asking the right questions.

First the player has to play in the finals.
He could sit on the bench the whole series, but it would be difficult to get MVP.
Unless he checked in for a minute and shot the series winning remarkable shot.

Once the player plays most likely he has to be on the winning team.
But not always the case as in late 60's early 70's have proven.

The player could start or bench warm , but he would have to play to change the
difference in the game.
Example of not being the difference would be like Wilt or even like game 3 , where Curry scored a pile of points but Raptors didn't give a shit.
It's basically called :a canceled out performance.

When a player starts he would have to show throughout the series he is a huge impact to each game as well as the series ...
Not one game is the difference , but %'s say throughout the series.

The NBA and HOF consider a FMVP as well as season MVP a declaration that you are watching a HOF player.
The finals is the utopia of a players career.
Similar to baseballs World Series
Similar to footballs Super Bowl
Similar to golfs Masters winner.

Playing in multiple finals allows a player multiple chances of becoming a FMVP.
but guys like Rob 'big shot' Horry it never happened even though each finals
his percentages of becoming a FMVP increased.

Many players once reaching the finals , actually play far beyond their skill set and hands down look like the true FMVP...
But guys that have credentials that we all know about with their average stats are celebrated with a capped FMVP.
Some of these HOF players stats were literally canceled out by the opposing stars Stats , but because of the typically won series goes to that star.

Then you have guys that have been all-stars throughout their careers , make critical shots in the finals , but are never really considered FMVP because the seasons MVP for that team acclaims the FMVP (and media says 'without a doubt'.
Then you have a guy like IGGY that had a great career with 6er's and moves over to GSW's and becomes a role player.
Signaling that he could never get a chip on his own , but is a very strong player , and comes off the bench and continues to play at a high level , and
here is a finals / where he is the most significant difference maker in the finals.
It equals FMVP.
Some media and fans look at his stats and say what ?? :confusedshrug:
Iggy will cherish that finals ring and FMVP trophy not because of the finals ,
but because he left 6er's and achieved it.

Think of Horry , who played with Akeem in Houston , then LA and the star power was above him.
But prior to his switch to LA , he was at times considered a possible Pippen .. his career never evolved into a Pippen type player , but won 6 chips as Pip had done. Never a FMVP.

If you read all this :oldlol:
Because this was a historical joke. :pimp:
