It actually makes sense. Westbrook will never be a 3rd or 4th option while Ibaka is. Westbrook is too good to not be a star in a team and way too bad to win a chip as the star.

I also get the feeling a good 75% of this board has never really played any real organized basketball at even a semi-serious level.

You can't be out for several weeks and come back in perfect rhythm without having real basketball workouts (no, riding a bike does not count). Your shot, timing, etc. is going to be off. Adrenalin only goes so far, some players can ride that wave, but even that will crash out quick enough.

It doesn't work like that. Even 7-10 days out can take a while to get back into rhythm with, being thrown right into the NBA Finals at the highest intensity possible, it's just a bad situation for him.
