you're right you know....That 30-52 record(which resulted in a sweep) where he only had to play 17 games is far more impressive than those 3 seasons of not making the playoffs by lebron

I don't use finals losses to boost an all time great. It's impressive carrying your team there, but losing is not something that will move you up the rushmore. This includes guys like Lebron and Tom Brady. However, I won't use them to lower the players, unless it was a major choke or losing to a far inferior team.

The only ones complaining about finals perfection are the trolls that didn't witness GOAT MJ and had to settle for watching a fraud lose 6 times. If Lebron was 9/9 these clowns would be agreeing with MJ stans that finals perfection as the FMVP is the end all be all.

They are so predictable and easy to dominate on this board. It's fun. No one has yet been able to effectively dispute anything we say regarding MJ and Lebron.

How is it impressive having a team give you enough help to get you there if all you are going to do is lose more than you win? :lol

"showing up" isn't the same as winning no matter how many times in a row you show up it doesn't mean shit if you don't win and it's an even worse look if you lose more than you win. All that means is that you have enough help to take you to the end, but you can't finish. Funny how this was never a problem for MJ. Gee... I wonder why? Must have something to do with the fact that he was the greatest to ever play the game. Funny how that works. Amazing. :lol

I agree in the sense that the competition for top-5 GOAT is so stiff that it's critical for that level of player to "make hay while the sun shines" and convert finals appearances into wins. However, I think it's tough to say that winning a conference title can fail to be a resume enhancer.

Even MJ failed to win his conference title in more than half of his seasons. It's not a championship, but it's certainly not nothing.

Of course, it could just as plausibly mean that you carried a flawed team as far as it could possibly go before it hit its ceiling in the finals.

How the hell do you carry a flawed team past 3 post season teams that beat out all the other teams and call it a flawed team?

The ONLY justification that the best player on a team can have for losing the finals is that he had an injured team. Like Curry in 2016 or lebron in 2015. Technically it's 5 finals failures for lebron but I just say 6 because it has more of a "ring" to it, so to speak. :oldlol:

To answer that you would have to look at several things. Who did the one team beat. Who didn't they beat. How good were the teams that they won and lost against. The list goes on. It's much better to compare teams that play against each other the same year for obvious reasons.

Surprised the 07 Suns don't get talked about more when discussing all-time rig-jobs. It's the only instance where a ref admitted he favored the other team for his own self-interest.

But back on topic, both the Suns or Spurs would have easily swept that Cavs team. It was considered a Herculean effort just to get by the Pistons, but that era was one of the most lopsided in recent history of West > East.

07, 15, 18 are 3 that for sure cannot be held against Lebron. 07 he was... 22? Not in his prime yet. 15 His team was completed depleted and 18 he just didn't have the guns Durant had. We're talking about how bad of a finals performer Steph is right now, but frontrunning Steph is a force to be reckoned with.

I argue 17 can't either just because of how historically of a low move KD going to the Warriors was in general, but I won't argue that against someone too much. 14 I don't hold losing so much against Lebron, but how he lost matters too.
