Basically with one more finals MVP and 10,000 more points, Durant will overtake Kobe on the all time list.

Only thing stopping it is health/injuries happening.

He needs a title outside of Golden State, he'll never get serious consideration without one

I mean he'll probably be on another stacked team to be able to win another FMVP :confusedshrug:

The key thing is that Durant WAS the best player on the Warriors...if Durant wasn't winning FMVP and only putting up 24-25 ppg then yeah his rings wouldn't matter.

I mean, Durant has been a far superior player than Kobe was in the finals.

Going to be a very tough chore seeing as how Kobe has 2 rings with Gasoft as his 2nd best option and did the exact opposite of KD. (made Shaq leave instead of joining a team that was stacked with a Shaq level player already on it + more all stars)

No Garnett in 2009, Perkins hurt in 2010. By your own logic asterisk rings for Kobe.

Lebron should have been in the finals to meet kobe. Why did he shy away and quit against boston?

You just exposed my hypocrisy so I’ll deflect by bringing up my LeBron obsession

He's already surpassed Kobe. Kobe is the most overrated player in NBA history. He's barely top 20.

Bran was waiting in the Finals for Chuckbe in 2007. And 2011. Oh and 2012. 2013 too I think. 2014 as well. Then 2015. Oh yeah and 2016.

next

No, Kobe is firmly way ahead of him. Was the better basketball player and leader.

1x MVP to 1x MVP
2x Finals MVPs to 2x Finals MVPs
2x Rings to 5x Rings
6x All First Team NBA to 11x All First Team NBA
No All Defense First Team to 9x All Defense First Team

kd became arguably the most unguardable scorer in NBA history and became a great defender as well. If you try to tony allen pat beverly him he'll put up 40 on your team. 7-feet with a release point too high to alter and the skill to get his shot off at will. deadly spot-up shooter as well.

career-wise kobe is obviously ahead of him but I'm not so sure that he was a better basketball player.

I'm not making excuses for kobe we've all already seen what he'll give you on the big stage something like 6-24, 25% shooting. he still owes gasol and odom a $500k car each and probably a rolex as well just to break even for what they did for him.

what I'm saying is that there is no way that tony allen or beverly could ever slow down 2019 kd because even though beverly did a gutsy tony allen-esque job he still never had a shot of limiting kd because he would just shoot over them and put 40 on their head.
