Shaq was a big time loser without an all star, all time great wing.

Anfernee Hardaway was Trace McGrady, maybe even better, because he was more fundamentally sound.

Kobe is a top 10 player.

Wade is a top 20 player.

Shaq's total without an all star, all time great guard teammate is one finals where he got swept. Shaq was the whipping boy for Karl Malone ffs! Shaq got swept by Greg Ostertag!

That's it.

What about Jordan without Pippen? Shaq's peak fell together with Kobe's emergence. Just like MJ's with Pippen's. Doesn't make any player worse than he is.

would love to see triple teamed Kobe put up 35/20 on 60% and run back on D to check prime Timmy, Ben, Sheed - for even one game

20 pts, 35% on Kerry Kittles and Hamilton does't award Top 10 nods

Perhaps in the 90's

So, just like Jordan without Pippen?

Cool

2000-2002 Shaq was a beast, easily the most dominant player in those years. Yeah, he had Kobe, but you could have put pretty much any other halfway decent wing player on those teams and the Lakers still stroll to the championship.

Im so nba'd out

Well if Kobe is top 10 and Shaq was clearly better than him then....hmmm...

News Flash.. No player can win a championship without an excellent teammate or two.. or three. Anyone older than 17 should already know this. Also, Shaq and Kobe could not win a championship with their first coach. They needed Phil Jackson.
*edit.. Oh wait, Michael and Scottie needed Phil too

If Shaq is so good, what does that make of the Utah Jazz that swept this all time great player?

Stockton, Hornacek, Ostertag, the terrible trio?

Wow, Michael Jordan beat some amazing competition. Imagine disposing of a team that SWEPT prime Shaq.

It's true.

As dominant as Shaq was through the first 3 1/2 quarters of the game, he could never be the team's closer due to his limited range and inconsistent FT shooting.

As well as his limited scoring game, he didn't take the Regular Season seriously enough, often coming into the year fat and out of shape, thus Kobe and others had to work harder during the RS to give the Lakers the best chance to win in the Playoffs.

He was a cheatcode for us in a way, but he couldn't win a single Conference Finals game against the Jazz with Kobe injured and playing limited minutes in '98, despite having NVE and Eddie Jones on the roster.

A player like Shaq simply cannot win without a star guard/forward to close out the games and series. You can't just give him the ball and let him create a shot like you would with Kobe. Portland held peak Shaq to just 18 points and 9 rebounds in the biggest game of the season, while Kobe had to lead the team in points, rebounds, assists and blocks to pull off one of the greatest 4th quarter comebacks in Playoffs history.

The Jazz were an excellent, well coached team. Anyone that says otherwise is plain stupid. Karl Malone still was a choker.

He's on top of the list of 4th quarter points scored.
His record sans Kobe on the Lakers is better than the other way round.
NVE was an immature idiot, who was talking about vacation while on the bench during the WCF.
The Blazers triple teamed Shaq. You put another 18/9 guy in that game, let's say ZBo, the Lakers don't win.
