Much respect, he was not my favorite player but a girl I was talking to, loved him and said I look like him.

He should have signed with the Spurs so he can retire with them, but I assume he left on bad terms.

When did that happen? Parker's one individual trophy came in a series in which Duncan was by far the best player on the floor every second he was on there. What exactly did Parker do, score a few more points? Duncan averaged more rebounds, more assists, on less turnovers, more blocks, more steals and was the key in the Spurs' defensive schemes with elite rim protection. Parker? Glorified Beno Udrih.

I couldn't stand Parker and Stromboli.

The guy was deceptively quick, could get around people in the key.

Led the league in points in the paint, more than once too I think. The guy was unstoppable and a very unique player for how relentless and fast he was going to the basket. And man, he could finish with the best of em. Oh, and he was one of the best at rising to the occasion and getting a bucket when the team really needed it, so much so that you didn't even mind him taking a three in those situations.

Obviously better than CP3 as a career loser.

Tougher to evaluate with Curry. The 2013 playoff series was the closest overlap (end of Parker

Duncan = 1
Manu = 2a
Parker = 2b

Parker was vital for the first 3 quarters of important games, but when it came down to the 4th quarter, his lack of a consistent jumper or a 3 point shot hurt him and the team.

That's when Manu stepped in. Since he was a 3 point threat the game opened up for him to do his thing. He became the most effective point guard for us in the crunch.

Now you can argue that without Parker helping Duncan to carry those first 3 quarters then the game isn't even close enough for Manu to win it and I'd agree.

All 3 of the big 3 were needed for every one of those championships, but in my view, Manu's contribution was something that fewer players can provide than Parker's.

Not that it matters in the slightest except to divide Spurs fans into some stupid argument.

Anyone dividing themselves within team fandom?

They were likely player zealots anyway..

Don't take my question as divisive. Think of it more within a historical context. People debate players all the time. To me? These two are pretty close. And to your credit, I think you broke it down fairly.

Nah, wasn't accusing you of doing it.

Player fans have been an issue in the Spurs community mainly because you've got the French rooting for their boy and the Argies/Hispanic community rooting for theirs.

It can get pretty ugly with both sides blaming the other for losses. It's just irritating to read or hear.

I'll never forget when Parker was taking over a game , made one mistake, and POP jumps down his throat.
That game was in the series when Robinson won a title, and Timmy just came on board.
Parker was 19 and above and beyond his years.

GREAT GREAT career.

yo STATman check this out

Tony Parker said the best player he ever faced (https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/bz1vwq/tony_parker_said_the_best_player_he_ever_faced_in/) in the nba was Kobe.

In french Tv show "quotidien", Tony Parker said that the best player he faced in the NBA was Kobe, qualifying him of being a "killer" (which is a great compliment in french, regarding sports).

He added that he also played against Jordan in the last 2 years of his career and said that even compared to Lebron, Kobe was the best

I hated the spurs and Tony parker. I've never seen a guard dominate in the paint like parker did. He was what made the spurs so dangerous. Ike watch the 2007 finals. The Cavs had no answers for his drives. He created so much angst and confusion to opponents leading to wide open looks for his teammates . Parker one of the scariest players for real
