Kerr had the final say. He decided to play him. Ruined him because he knew KD would leave.
No. KD made himself available and it was collectively agreed upon by a staff of people. Stop looking for someone to blame. He shouldn

How is it Kerr's fault if the medical team said KD could play?:facepalm

Ridiculous thread.

Hey, dumbass... cleared to play doesn't mean play me 12 of the first 14 minutes of the game.

Its really a lose lose for Kerr. You play him and this happens (even though its a freak accident) or you don't play him, lose, and Durant tells everyone he was good to play. I think Kerr made the right call. He didn't know Durant was going to blow out his achilles in the 2nd quarter.

Act like Durant had no say in whether he was good to go in the first place..

Medical staff clears KD, KD makes all the effort to get himself ready for the game and goes out there willingly. You can blame the doctors or the HC, but KD makes the final decision.

Hey dumbass, if the medical team cleared KD to play then there is no reason why the HC should question that.

If KD tore his Achilles 5 minutes into the game you'd be crying the same.

Would they drag KD on the court kicking & screaming if he said he wasn't good to go?

No they would just throw passive aggressive leaks out there like :

KD cleared to practice
Warrior players after game 4 confused and wondering why KD is not out there when a couple of injured players played.

Please. Spurs organization did the same, Kawhi was done with them and even accepted being shipped to another country than play for them.

I think this falls on the team staff/Dr. They are the experts on injuries and associated recovery.

If I take my car to my mechanic, and the car 'feels' ok to me when I drive off, then I end up crashing because the brake lines were leaking, its the mechanics fault. They 'cleared' the car, and the team medical staff cleared KD.

Awful analogy. It would more be like if you were a race car driver, wrecked your car before the biggest race of the year. Got it thrown together in time but with a warning shit might not be 100% ready. You choose to go for it anyways and the engine blows up.

So I guess KD is a Doctor now? lol.

He said he felt good. The docs told him you're good to go, no risk. And then boom.

You thinks the docs told him, hey there's 50% chance that you'll blow up your achilles 2 weeks before the biggest contract of your life, and KD said, "sure, let's do it!" Are you nuts?

It was bad medical advice, plain and simple. Not sure what your angle is here?

Shogon

It wasn’t just bad medical advice.

KD knew he wasn’t 100% ready. He gambled and lost.

You can’t tell me he went from not good enough to play game 4 to everything is fine in game 5 where I can come out and play nearly 12 consecutive minutes.

The doctors ****ed up, Kerr ****ed up and most of all KD ****ed up. He’s the only one that knows what’s going on with his body.

Additionally, it seems very likely the only real reason he came back is because of the passive aggressive reports in the media the days leading up. He permanently injured himself because he’s worried about other people’s opinions. He’s emotionally sensitive.

ON TOP OF ALL OF THAT, THERE WERE PHYSICAL SIGNS THAT HE WAS HURTING PRIOR TO THE RUPTURE. THAT IS ON KERR.

Bull$hit.

IF KD is not cleared, or not willing to play due to injury, can Kerr force him to play?

Kerr started KD because KD was cleared and KD was willing to play

Stop the fvcking bull$hit

Kerr got a lot of flak for sitting Klay in game 3 when Klay wanted to& play. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Curry was rushed back in 2016.

There's alot of blame to go around. Pressure from teammates, coaches, fans and media. At the end of the day though he could of chose to ignore all that and not play so you have to most of the blame on him.

I agree. Kerr shouldn't of played him all those minutes. Pushed him too hard. He played like 12 of the 14 minutes. 2nd most minutes behind Steph. KD hadn't played in over 30 days and only had 1 "light" practice. This situations stinks. He never participated in a full practice. SMH

It wasn't Kerr's fault.

The fault goes mostly on the medical staff. It's their job to take the impact KD could have on the game entirely out of the equation. They are supposed to make decisions that are the best for the players immediate and long-term health. They should be smart enough to know that a player wants to play at all costs. They cleared him to play and they were very wrong.

Even though Kerr should've used him more sparingly, he shouldn't have been able to make the choice.

Wonder why they chose to ice the calf when he went out of the game, instead of riding a bike to keep it loose and warm?

I'm sure there's a reason, but just thought a bike would have been better instead of ice.
