The Raps didn't "leave" Klay open, it was the Raptors' fear of Steph Curry and some masterful playcalling by I'm assuming Kerr to take advantage of the terror beigegawd puts in people's hearts.

Here you see Lowry is on Drayfraud who pretends to go set a ball screen for Curry but then INSTANTLY slips and goes to set a pindown for Klay. What's REALLY genius (not sure if it was intentional) about this play design is that it appears Draymond purposely set a half-hearted inside screen only to flip it so that it's a longer rotation for Lowry.
If that initial offball screen for Klay had been solid and Klay ends up taking a top of the key three, Lowry and/or Kawhi would've been able to contest. Actually now that I look at the gif again, it was DEFINITELY by design for Dray to flip that screen....genius stuff by whoever designed that play.

On this one it looks like the Raps are in a triangle and two, or it could just be the players just instinctually trapping Curry. Reason why I think it was probably a designed defense is because Van Vleet just sat high side and allowed/encouraged Curry to go baseline. Even before Curry goes by Vleet you can see Lowry and Gasol COMPLETELY ignoring Drayfraud and Iggy. When Curry passes it to Iggy it forces Leonard to leave Klay to come chip down on Iggy in the paint, otherwise it's an easy layup. The fact that Iggy doesn't even look at the basket suggests GSW anticipated this defense and that this was a designed play. Drayfraud to his credit understanding how trash he is immediately skips the ball to Klay, Leonard had collapsed so deep into to paint he had no choice but to sellout trying to get back to Klay to contest and got hit with a sweet pumpfake.
Again, some really nice play design by GSW
Even Curry's three was due to some slick playcalling, let me know if yall want a breakdown on that one also.
