View Full Version : Any blame for Nick Nurse calling a timeout with 3 minutes left?

The Raptors were rolling. Kawhi was taking over at that point. Two 3-pointers, 2 other jumpers and a 14-2 run before the timeout with 3:05 to play.

The timeout completely ruined their momentum and the rest of the game was the Warriors. Should Nurse had let the guys continue to play?

This is what Nurse said about it

"We just came across and just decided to give those guys a rest," Nurse said of the timeout. "[We] just thought we could use the extra energy push."

Of course. It was a pretty big mistake.

They actually called Two timeouts.

3:05 Raptors Full timeout 97 - 103
3:05 Raptors Full timeout 97 - 103

Warriors were on the ropes. You never give your enemies a chance to recover.

I put more blame on Nick Nurse not calling a time out for the last possession. What was up with that? They had 1 timeout left right? :facepalm

Hindsight analysis imo.

Man... what a disaster of an ending after the amazing run Kawhi went on. Gotta give the Warriors credit for staying composed and showing their championship experience first hand.

Hindsight analysis imo.

I personally though the timeout was questionable at the time. The Raps were taking the wind right out of the Warriors. Steph Curry had missed a 3 right before the timeout and I said "this game is over, GS has given up".

Seeing that GS came back and won, there's more emphasis on it like you said. But had the Raptors won, no one would be mentioning it.

I honestly thought Kerr had called that timeout. :biggums:

I agree in retrospect it probably wasn't the best but his reasoning for taking the timeout was sound. He mentioned he took it because he felt some of the guys needed a rest.

I couldn't believe the moron called a timeout when his team was in the midst of a huge run, about to close out the finals

Timeouts are used for stopping runs, and this was no exception

I agree Nurse didn't have a good game all around in that one. First game where Kerr (or whoever does his thinking) actually out coached Nurse.

I didn't like at it at the time and I obviously hated it all the more in the aftermath.

When you're rolling, you don't disrupt the roll.

Nurse has done a fantastic job otherwise.

Nothing but respect for him.

LOL at these moron.

Coaches do that all the time (even the great ones).

It's easy for you to say that because they got beaten.

There's nothing wrong with that TO, it's more on Klay and Steph's aint giving that championship to them that easy.

They could have ended series yesterday. Why call timeout to REST while Kawhi is on a TEAR with 3mins to go? :facepalm

i didn't like it. during that run, the raptors had so much momentum and kawhi was str8 ballin' with confidence. the warriors looked absolutely defeated at that point, too.
