I was surprised his opt in for next year was so low. 27 people make 26+ million dollars next year and the contracts started exploding 3 years ago with Conley. I guess Kyrie barely missed out.

Summer of 2016 was the explosion... Kyrie signed a deal before that... so did Love(so I thought... maybe not)...

So yeah, I guess I just remember Love being significantly lower than the salary guys were having until last year or something. Looked it up... he made 21 million in 2015... which was practically yesterday... and nothing compared to the max that guys are getting now.

Kyrie made the Celtics worse. How is he going to make a worse team in Brooklyn better? Will they even make the playoffs?

I still remember when he signed his deal. It was the first wave of that new salary cap money.
Funny, I remember, it was a huge max at the time and I was thinking "got damn, they overpaid big time to keep him. Kyrie is a great player, but he is NOT franchise player take your team to the playoffs good."

Keep in mind, the season before, It would have put him in the top 10, top 5 highest paid guys.
When other guys IN THIER PRIME, FRANCHISE SUPERSTARS were making

LeBron: 20Mil
CP3: 20Mil
KD: 19Mil
Blake Griffin: 17 Mil
PG-13: 15 Mil
Marc Gasol: 15 Mil
Westbrook: 15 Mil
Steph curry: 10 Mil (NBA MVP/NBA CHAMP STEPH CURRY)

And they were about to give a good, NOT great Kyrie a Max.

But, now? Contracts are insane. He needs to be paid.
