Greg Wiener, a season ticket holder who was standing next to the officer, told The Associated Press the police are not telling the truth and are trying to cover up for what the officer did. He said Masai Ujiri never struck the officer in the face or asked for a credential.

A Raptors spokesperson told CNN Sports on Friday, "The incident is being looked at, and we are cooperating with authorities. We look forward to resolving the situation."
Kelly said the sheriff's office is working with the Oakland Police Department to compile witness statements and videos. It will submit evidence to the district attorney's office for a possible charge of battery on an officer, he said.
Kelly said it wasn't an intentional punch, but the strike landed on the deputy's jaw

it's the finals, they had just won, game had ended seconds before it happened. this dude put the team together, last thing he's thinking of is putting it on his neck. either way, the cop was a major d1ck for not looking at his hand. and how the fkk do you not recognize him. he's not some dude dressed in jeans. you can't mistake Masai for a nobody, he has a presence.

Are you ****ing stupid? It's masais job to show his credentials, not for the officer to go looking for it and you think officers know who Masai is? The Raptors own security didn't even know who Jeremy lin was but you expect an oakland police officer to know who another team GM is? I'm a massive basketball fan and I definitely wouldn't be able to identify all 30 GM's in the NBA. I know most of their names, but their faces? Nope. Not really.
This all could've been avoided by him wearing his tag like he was supposed to, and not having it wrapped around his fist.
I mean, it's not like the dude is an Ainge, or a Pelinka, or a Divac, or a Brand, etc..
Also, lets wait until all the facts are out. If the cop just put his hand on Masai to make sure that he doesn't get on to the court, I do not have a problem with it. IF Masai showed the pass and the cop still didn't let him through, the cop needs to be disciplined.

sure, but that didn't happen. my argument is that the cop shouldn't be a d1ck. the fact that a warriors fan is standing up for Masai claiming the cop never asked for credentials is what I find fishy about this situation.
i agree, ask for credentials, show credentials, move on. so what went wrong here? i don't know masai really well, but he doesn't come off as an egotistic person. he seems pretty humble and nice. now, with it being a finals game, his emotions were most certainly high but how about that cops emotions, dude look like he bet his house on the warriors.
my theory is the cop tried to give him a hard time.
i'll wait for the video though. i won't believe the cops story until i see a video of masai punching a cop.

It was literally after the Raptors won the Championship and I'm assuming that Masai had a bunch of people around him? A cop isn't going to be able to scan every single person from head to toe. They're there to make sure that only authorized people are on the floor, and not to scan the crowd for weapons (people are screened before they are allowed into the arena).
As I said, this all could've been avoided if Masai just wore his tag.

Trump is indeed a savvy politician, but he is probably the biggest ignoramus on the topic of economics to occupy the white house since at least FDR. His beliefs concerning the economics of international trade and immigration are downright childlike.
He's been OK (though not as good as I'd hoped) on easing some federal regulations, which has probably helped the stock market some. But the primary reason it's going up is the same reason that it was going up under Obama: the Fed is continuing to print money and shower it on their Wall Street cronies. This will most likely result in another crash, seeing as how no one learned anything from 2008.
I agree that some people are too over-the-top in their hatred for him (e.g. the ridiculous Russia "scandal") but to pretend as if he's some kind of economic savant is absurd.

I mean, there are PLENTY of US prisoners who should be released. Those in prison for drugs, just for starters.
And if the Chinese state is really some oppressive monster (not arguing that it's not) then isn't it a problem that the US state is throwing people in prison at a far higher rate? In any event, what China may or may not be doing has no bearing on whether people are justified in getting upset over police abuses.
I'm white, so I probably don't "get' what black people have to go through on a daily basis, but I've sure as shit witnessed my share of bully cops. I'm more than happy to see them exposed for what they are.
I view the BLM movement as a good thing. Ever since the 1960's, "liberal" politicians have managed to convince a significant portion of the black population that the government is on their side, and can "protect" them from "racists." As a result, black people tended to support the continued expansion of the state. BLM is the beginning of the realization that this is bullshit, and that the state is in fact a great enemy of black people because, just as it did with Jim Crow laws, it provides official sanction to abusive racist behavior. So I say, BRING ON THE OUTRAGE!
There's a lot I don't agree with that Malcolm X advocated, but he did tend to preach self-reliance among and within the black community. Interestingly, he's viewed by much of contemporary culture as having been "too radical." MLK, on the other hand, urged black people to essentially cow themselves and meld into the white man's "democracy," and is celebrated for it. It's about time that people started waking up to this mistake.

I agree with a lot of what you said, but
1) black lives matter isn't what you say it is. BLM is a response to the misleading media coverage about cops being racist towards black people. it's a distraction from the major problems like government welfare dependence and lack of black fathers
I'm sure you've seen this before, but here it is again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phPXTWJhnYM&
2) the outrage is fake outrage because it's people virtue signaling and feeding into the narrative that black people are a victims and oppressed because of their skin color. And nothing messes up people more in their life that believing that they are helpless, oppressed victims.
Victimhood produces murderers, thieves, dropouts, drug addicts, etc
3) Comparing rate of people in prison between countries isn't an indicator of how fair a justice system is. You should look into the Hong Kong protests right now. Mainland China looks like "1984."
digression:
I think it's fine to look at how many people in prison. But it's more important to look at the actual laws, whether or not they are enforced, and whether or not they are enforced fairly.
In CA we believe in feel good phrases like "build schools not prisons" so we have no room for thieves / homeless drug addicts who go around harassing people with no consequences. people shouldn't be able to go around stealing from businesses and harassing people on the streets with no consequences, agree?
a friend of mine was threatened by a homeless man while his family was eating dinner downtown. the man told his children (5 and 9) that he will murder them and rape their mother (there's more details, but I'm not going to list all the ways this guy broke the law). the police said, "yeah, we know that guy, we get complaints about him all the time for years. he's got a long history of assaulting people. but it's CA and he's homeless, so what-r-u-gonna-do amirite?"

https://sports.yahoo.com/report-suggests-officer-involved-in-altercation-with-masai-ujiri-isnt-telling-the-truth-201852066.html
What I suspected....Cops were lying both about the lack of credentials and about the supposed hit to the face.
Cops all too often routinely act on impulse, do the wrong thing, and then the police department issues a phony rationale and somehow people believe it. Then 3 months later all the facts come out that the cops were at fault and used false pretense for their aggressions....but by that time, the people have moved on and don't care. Which is why lying/stalling works. The people simply adopt and believe whatever law enforcement said at the time, and stop paying attention afterwards.

Trump is a conman who files for bankruptcy all the time. He actually lost money in Vegas.
He can't even speak in complete sentences and is charismatic only to racist brain dead idiots. Anybody with a mind and a brain knows he is retarded. He is not only the worst president of all time he is the worse human being of all time. That's even if you consider him a human being. I consider him a parasitic vermin cockroach.
Which is why he is a billionaire. Yup, people argue whether he has $40 billion or $5 billion which is one of the stupidest things to argue.
Once again, it's sad how little you know.

i can believe ujiri pushing him but not punching him in the face. his team that he built had just won their first ever title, i don't think his first thought was to punch a cop.
and the cop is a fkn pvssy, the report says he went to the hospital to get checked out for the alleged punch :oldlol:
i really hope a video surfaces of the altercation.

or if the cop wasn't a d1ck.
Lets for for the whole facts, as I said.
As I said, if the cop's guilty, he NEEDS to be punished. However, from the pictures I've seen, Masai was in the wrong for not wearing the tag.

pretty surprised it's been 3 days and no video has surfaced yet. 20k+ people attending a very important game and in the final moments of the game, not one person happened to record it?

not saying it's a conspiracy, but i'm surprised a video hasn't popped up. everything seems to be recorded nowadays. it doesn't matter much to me if Masai was in the wrong or not, but since the cop is wanting to charge him, i'd like to see video of it happen.

a lot of police interactions with minorities go this path, unfortunately.
Strickland's suit, which was filed in February, alleged that Ujiri assaulted him in the moments after Toronto's victory and that as a result of the incident, he "suffered injury to his body, health, strength, activity and person, all of which have caused and continue to cause Plaintiff great mental, emotional, psychological, physical, and nervous pain and suffering." :facepalm cops should be criminalized for filing false allegations.

in case you racists forgot:
Lemme just remind everyone of the absolute shitshow that was the police department and the bodycam footage at the time:
accidentally” turned off during the incident.
Worse than that. They basically said it turned off due to the impact / blow from Masai. Oh, that was after they said they reviewed it and it ‘backs their version of events’...but we’re not gonna show it to you!
What a cluster**** form the cops (to the absolute surprise of no one!).
“OK, he did, he did (strike the cop). We have body camera video, surveillance video from the arena that’s very descriptive, and I can adamantly tell you that Mr. Ujiri did strike the deputy sheriff.”
– Alameda County Sgt. Ray Kelly
—
“(we) watched a body camera video of the incident between the deputy and Ujiri and “fully supports the deputy” and is recommending the case move to the District Attorney for “criminal charges of misdemeanour battery of a police officer against Ujiri.”
– Alameda County Sheriff Greg Ahern
—
“...the body camera and the security footage is part of the investigation and is not being released.” .....LMFAO (me)
—
“it was not body-cam video from the officer, but footage from the stadium that captured the blow. The body cam, police said, switched off the instant Mr. Ujiri made contact.”
– “a spokesman” for the force
