WOW Durant is recruiting! Knicks will be SCARY GOOD real soon. If Durant is already planning his rehab, his expected return date moves up dramatically. GOD I LOVE being a Knicks fan. We have a plan and by hell or high water, we're going to see this thing through. Let the haters hate, but we going to land 2 out of the 3 (Kawhi, KD, Kyrie) or we can go full racist and land all 3 KKK!!

Second chances are a BEAUTIFUL THING!

It's a testament to how huge of a talent KD was that teams are still happy to pay him every dollar they can, let him take a season off to rehab and then just see what they get. Because there's a pretty good chance he returns as Rashard Lewis,

GOD I LOVE being a Knicks fan.

What would that be based on?

Lets say youre 50 years old and have memories starting somewhere in the 70s. 50 year old born in 69....you might have some slight memory of the late 70s. From there to now...what positive memories could you have?

Walt Frazier ending his career on the Cavs as you trade for injured stars like Bob Mcadoo who did nothing there?

YOu love the run with an actual crackhead(Michael Ray Richardson) and Bill Cartwright as your frahcnise players?

Bernard King must have been exciting at least...as you won like 48 games and lost to real contenders before his tragic injury.

Upside of that tragic injury was being bad enough to draft Ewing I guess.....who came in expected to be Bill Russell reborn but is now more famous for missing a fingeroll to win game 7 trying to make a second finals after an all time awful performance in the previous season. Im not saying Pat wasnt great...he was. Im just saying he came in to save the city when the only glory he really brought was making a finals ex grocery bagger John Starks outplayed him in.

Anyway after that...the missed layup to try again next year...and helping elevate Rip Hamilton plus 8 feet of range in Reggie Miller to mythic status as a Knick killer...you all embarked on an epic rivalry with the Miami heat to determine who could fail most brutally when it counted.

Eventually he broke down to the point his team made the finals without him...but that last gasp of relevance skips us over the most fun part of this stroll down memory lane...

Pat Riley walking out on the Knicks after being illegally courted by the Heat all year. The Heat gave him part ownership to betray you and possibly wreck your season on the way out. Knicks got pissed and filed tampering charges...which the NBA agreed with forcing the Heat to give you a draft pick you...in Knick fashion....wasted on a nobody.

You got Walter McCarty. Pat Riley tore your franchise a second and third asshole and walked away and you got a draft pick from them you used on Walter McCarty.

So Riley goes and builds 3 champions in Miami for the low low price of Walter McCarty.

You replace him with Don Nelson who you quickly fire for making the rational move of trying to trade quickly aging Ewing for Shaq. His reasonable decision was met with hatred and dismissal so he could go to Dallas...and get them Dirk who won them a title.

Anyway you elevate the posterboy for stressed out too tired to think "Someone get that man a cup of coffee" coaches in JVG who among other laughable things is most famous for hanging on Zos leg and getting knocked the **** out by his own center:

https://thumbs.gfycat.com/ScholarlyUnlawfulHippopotamus-size_restricted.gif

Anyway....turns out those were still glory days compared to what came next.

You signed Alan Houston to a contract for about 16 years with a salary of a small countries GDP only for him to retire and stay mostly on your cap preventing future moves.

You dabble in every washed up/never was/not yet guy you can find with a special affinity for fat guys with no heart(Jerome James) or ones with a rare life threatening disease(Curry).

You put Steve Francis, Stephon Marbury, Jamal Crawford, and Nate robinson in one backcourt with Jalen Rose, Matt Barnes, and Eddy Curry also around then acted shocked when Larry Browns no nonsense fundamental approach didnt work out.

You clean house and start to go back to basics just drafting young guys and doing it slow and steady...

Draft some young guys in Lee, Chandler, Gallinari....then decide to toss those plans to the wind and rebuild overnight with superstars.

You sign Amare to massive money never considering why a team with a famed medical staff didnt offer him all they could to keep him....

To everyones shock...he breaks down and is never the same at the ripe old age of 28 just as you complete your usual big move rebuild by trading all your assets for Carmelo....assets like Danillo...and picks that ended up being in the lottery. Dario Saric and Jamal Murray were taken for the record. Saric is pretty good....Jamal a future all star. But lets ignore that...

Lets also ignore that you turned the team away from its one genuine feel good moment in 25 years tossing Linsanity out the window partly for Melos ego.....

You have exactly one good season with Melo losing in the second round to the Pacers.....

Since then you won 37, 17, 32, 31, 17, and 29 games...not in that order but I dont care to check back because scrolling through knicks record the once was depressing enough. I dont need to be fully accurate. You get the picture. Bad things happened. Things like:
Giving Phil epic money to try to build 90s teams in the 2010s forcing coaches to run his ex assistants offense instead of theirs.

Your coach ****ed a guys wife who drove a couple hours to beat his ass.....

Same coach had a DUI flipping a car owned by the guy who came to beat his ass.

You paid Joakim Noah max money.

At some point your awfulness blessed you with a legit great pick in KP....a rare unicorn(perhaps the most accurate use of the term in recent years). Naturally it goes to shit and he either demands out or was traded...either way...hes gone to win in Dallas as part of a great duo but no doubt the 17 wins without him will get you Zion...or at least Ja....right? Right?

Well......no.

You get a chance to draft Zions less heralded teammate. Who may one day prove great...never know. But you arent gonna build that way.

You instead pin your hopes on a 30ish year old with a ruptured tendon and a guy who would be on his third team in 4 years leaving fairly hated from both his stops.

All of this under the supervision of a trust fund baby who is banning fans, kicking out your local icons, battling drug addiction, fronting a blues band instead of working...while still paying himself dozens of millions in salary and fighting lawsuits out the ass.

I'll tell you one thing....the divorce rate in New York should be damn near zero if you go through all that and are still in love.

You sure dont love results. Which I can respect. I **** with fans of bad teams.

Especially ones who arent delusional.

Thats where the problem with Knick fans come in.

The unshakable belief that now things are gonna go your way.

Might KD come? Sure. The league will be real shook of that in 2021. Might Kyrie come? Sure. He might just wanna join one of the worst rosters in history without any immediate help. He really might.

But if he does....the league still wont be worried.

Teams that are good right now have cap space for 2 max deals. Those are the teams that might be "scary good".

The Knicks are just the Charlotte Hornets northeast right now.

Talk about being scary when something happens. Youre a horror movie on CBS at the moment. Its only gonna be so bloody. Get on HBO. Then we might cut the lights off and settle in for some gore.

Way way waaaaaaaay too long a story short?

Aint nobody scared of one legged KD and Kyrie taking 250 million dollars each to join the worst roster in Knicks history and slow the development of what would be your future(RJ) if you ever managed to hold onto a young star.

Teams that matter are offering max deals to players who have two legs and no drama. You dont see Clipper fans in here acting like they did something already. Win. Then demand we pay homage.

Till then youre the same you always are. The New York "Bout to". It should be on the jerseys by now.

Knicks been "Bout to..." for 40 something years.

All that in response to a gimmick account that's been pulling the same "we're singing massive free agents this off season" ever since LeBron was a free agent the first time? Really?

That aside... they might finally get some signings this year... but they're still going to suck.

All that? I could have sworn you had known me for like 17 years now.

IS your avatar from Birdbox?

I wish he had more time to tell me "I told you so". So often in those movies the guy who was right never gets to rub faces in it.

Burn After Reading... John Malkovich's character is one of the if not THE most relatable character to me personally I've literally ever seen from any movie or work of fiction.

Very dry and dark humor.

I dont know if he actually plays the same guy over and over or if I just feel that way because of the last couple I saw. I never saw Burn after reading but he looks like hed behave exactly like he did in Bird Box.

Well I might have to check out Bird Box lol.

oh wait... I saw Bird Box... nah, there are similarities for sure but overall his character is a lot more pronounced in Burn.

I relate to it all except the drinking :D

KD? No...you have to take the risk if you are the Knicks.

Kyrie? Yes...they should not want him. Honestly the Knicks should sign KD and then tank another season. That is way better than adding Kyrie as well this year imo. Maybe add a value role player after the initial surge of free agency if possible. Or, if Leonard is a potential....you obviously add him.

But I think it would be silly to get a Butler/Kemba/Kyrie this summer if you are the Knicks.

Yea id still sign KD. I just wouldnt expect the league to be shivering over it.

KD played on talented teams his entire career without winning outside the Warriors. Him having a talented #2 post injury isnt sending teams running.

Completely agree.

Not much evidence that a worse version of KD with what will almost for sure amount to a supporting cast not as good as his OKC teams...is going to lead to much more than a conference finals appearance.

Especially as the East seems to be on a trend of getting better, not worse....until the freak comes to the Mavs of course.

Even if a 100% healthy Durant signed up with a 100% healthy Kyrie for the Knicks, they still probably don't ever make it out of the East for the duration of those contracts, let alone win the title.

They'd have to really beef up the supporting cast for that.
