Hey Yo

Per the @bball_ref Shot Finder tool, only 9 players have taken 9+ potential go ahead FGA in the final 24 seconds of the 4th Qtr/OT of playoff games since 2001. Stephen Curry is the only of those 9 with no makes.

People aren't lying when they say Steph is ALL TIME. And a pretty good playoff/finals performer.

The same way others aren't who claim he misses BIG shots.

Of all the finals I've seen? Don't think there's ONE where he's galvanized teammates in crunchtime. A clutch shot or two? Yeah. Sure. But down the stretch, overall, Curry's play is erratic.

Here's MJ for the last 30 second in 1997 and 1998

MJ 1997 playoffs (https://stats.nba.com/players/clutch-traditional/?sort=PTS&dir=-1&Season=1996-97&SeasonType=Playoffs&PerMode=Totals&Period=4&ClutchTime=Last%2030%20Seconds&AheadBehind=Behind%20or%20Tied&PointDiff=2) - 2/3... 66.7%
MJ 1998 playoffs (https://stats.nba.com/players/clutch-traditional/?sort=PTS&dir=-1&Season=1997-98&SeasonType=Playoffs&PerMode=Totals&Period=4&ClutchTime=Last%2030%20Seconds&AheadBehind=Behind%20or%20Tied&PointDiff=2) - 1/5... 20.0%

.....................Total - 3/8... 37.5%

That's 8 attempts in just 2 seasons, so his clutch burden was much more than everyone's in history

Curry is not quite as bad in the final possession as the media is making him out to be.

In all years, in the playoffs, in the 4th quarter or overtime, 0:24 or less left in quarter, shot to tie or take lead:

4/15 = 27% (rounded)

http://bkref.com/tiny/KT5EO

Last year, he was at 40%.

LeBron is at 37%. But LeBron has hit game winners in the postseason.

Curry hasn't done that yet. Once he hits a few game winners, the perception will change.

Damn, the crazy part is I can remember 4 of those Duncan misses off the top of my head. 2013 was so brutal.

No need to account for shots taken on a shortened 3pt line vs mechanics and landscapers

Might as well throw in WNBA players then

Kobe's percentage is so low because the clown took the worst shots ever. He could have two open teammates with their opposing defensive players draped all over him with his own man and he'd still toss up the prayer.
