It would be bad if Pelicans trade away AD and end up with nothing, so NBA decided to gift Pelicans the #1 pick.

Pelicans don't become irrelevant after trading AD, and Lakers/Lebron end up being a title contender after getting AD. Win win for both franchise.

The Rose one was mad suspect, Cavs had the worst record in the league so it wasn't that absurd for Cleveland to end up with #1
