All this nonsense with AD and players who get traded and Lebron's moronic low IQ ramblings, it's becuase the NBA is a business run by greedy "old (not so) white people" who don't give two shits about anything but profit.
In Europe sports clubs are, or used to be, part of the local community. You'd have youth teams, so that Iniesta played for Barcelona since he was like 8 years old. Other players get recruited later and play for other local clubs.
That way, everyone is connected way more to the players. If you played for some low ranking Barca team, you might have met Messi as a young player, thus there is this feeling of real community.
Local teams also usually contribute a lot of money to local development and do a lot of charity work.
NBA teams are just products, players are products.
I know americans have the college system, but that is also being perverted with these Lebron level IQ players (morons), cheating their way into the system. The NBA teams should use their local G-league as fixed, permanent fixtures, which go out into the community and do positive stuff to create a real sense of community. Put on tournaments everywhere.
