I hear Silver but the entire point of the draft is so teams don't stay bad forever and other teams don't stay good forever. Look at the Lakers the last 5-6 years. They have experienced their worst overall season ever in 2016 and have now missed the playoffs 6 straight years, which is the longest ever for that franchise that has been around since the NBA was formed.
If everyone got to pick where they played, LA, Miami, New York, Boston, Chicago and places like that are where the majority will want to play. Some people just cannot say no to the money. See Paul George last summer. The last decade or so, players have began demanding trades, sometimes too often. New Orleans lost their only franchise players in their history due to trade demands.
What is good for the NBA are teams like this years Raptors, the 2016 Cavs, the '11 Mavs, winning titles. Not a stacked Golden State or Miami team, both of which were ridiculous and the Warriors was way worse.
I miss the days when a black kid from LA wanted to stay in a white populated state like Indiana and help them win. Paul Pierce choosing to stay in Boston his entire career even though he grew up cheering their biggest rival. He agreed to be traded to help Boston in the long run. KG giving his 12 best years to Minnesota before throwing in the towel. Freaking Dirk. Kobe even staying in LA during the tough times (he made threats but they did not happen). All of the loyalty. You get drafted for your talent.... Shut up and help your team win.

European teams don't have any of the draft or salary caps and the consequence is that 1 or 2 teams dominate their local competition and win every year.

Adam Silver is a dumbass if he thinks he can cure NBA players' unhappiness.
Now more than ever, it is constantly thrust in their faces that if they don't win rings, they are utterly worthless pieces of shit that deserve to be thrown into a compactor and set on fire to die the most agonizing death possible.
That is how the media and average fan treats players that don't win rings.
The players know this. They see it all the time. As I said, now more than ever.
Cell phones are always going to follow these guys around in their pockets. There is no escaping it. Most people don't have the will power to escape it or the ability to analyze to truly recognize where their unhappiness is coming from and do something about it.
This is why the players are also going to continue to team up and try to circumvent teams having control... over and over and over and over.
I found the guy responsible for why players are unhappy more today than ever... take a peak...
