Also, Lakers feel very confident they can sign 3rd max guy or they wouldn’t be trying so hard to have full max to acquire Kawhi or Butler. Also heard they will use MLE on final starter and vet minimum and hopefully 2nd Rnd pick or two and buyouts ( JR Smith) to fill out bench.

So dumb...they need to make a TEAM and have actual DEPTH/ROLES.

They already have a very good third option in Kuzma and there is only ONE BASKETBALL.

Giving a max to someone like Jimmy Butler rn would be so fkin dumb and would be so typical of the people running the Lakers org.

Kawhi AINT walking through the door.

Butler would be a great 6th man if he agreed to it

I’m torn BUT let’s say it’s Butler u get a Top notch SG which they don’t have who is two way player than they can use MLE on PG and use vet min and buyouts maybe even draft picks to fill out roster. I heard for example JR Smith would possibly join lakers after buyout he would be a quality backup 2 at bargain price. Yes Lakers would be top heavy But if they could avoid injuries especially come playoff time would be very difficult to deal with.

Lakers have surpassed the Knicks as the biggest joke of the league. They basically told Magic to **** off all to accommodate Lebron.

Yep.

Something is at play here. Too many former players and analysts keep talking about a 3rd guy already lined up. It's happening. I'd only want it for Kawhi or Kyrie. Younger dudes who can run with AD post Lebron. Not interested in Butler or that inefficient chucker Kemba...

Long as we use the MLE afterwards on Lopez/Dedmon it will be fine. Even if we have to have a scrub Mario Chalmers like guard to fill out the lineup. Only bad part is the players that we could really use like Mcgee, and KCP won't take a vet min. :lol

I honestly hope they get Kawhi

That would crater lebron's legacy more than anything and highlight the non-competitive nature he's had his whole career

if they want to get there, they need to some how get rid of one or two of these dudes:

Rondo
Stephenson
Muscalla
Ratpa

Obviously rather have Kahwi but acting like Butler as your 3rd option is bad is just plain silly. Also, ups Lakers D with him plus AD in lineup. If healthy Lebron , AD Kawhi lineup is 90% a lock winning championship subbing Kawhi with butler drops lakers to still favorable 75% chance. With just AD and Lebron plus decent role players give them 60% chance.

I would rather have AD play 5 and use the MLE on a guard like Beverley.

Pretty remarkable that this wasn't decided before the terms were agreed to. Especially given the fact that the Pels don't really need cap space where as the Lakers do....and the Lakers gave up a king's ransom.

Seems like there must have been some kind of development after the initial agreement, but yeah.... no reason to keep those guys around if you're in "win now" mode. Maybe the thought was to hang onto them as ammo for another trade?

if LAL is smart, they spend that money on 2-3 solid players for depth instead of Jimmy Butler or Kemba.

Luckily, LAL isn't smart. :lol   :hammerhead:

They should sign Carmelo and Cousins and see if they can be even more of a mess then they were last year.

The only good fit chemistry-and-needs-wise right now is Kyrie Irving, among the top FAs. Butler won't work well with Lebron. Klay would've been perfect but he'll probably stay in GS and will not be ready to play until Spring.
