While I agree that his integrity is very questionable...

Aron Baynes in the grand scheme of the NBA is miniscule. Sucks he has to deal with the move with his family and everything, but he doesn't have cache for people to be mad at this.

I'll say Ainge is a great GM if you are a Managing partner or owner. He shows no care for feelings and only wants what's best for the organiation.

Never forget what he did to IT.

Ainge is becoming pretty lame with his shiny new thing phenomenon.

Who exactly is the core of the Celtics now, if not guys like Horford and Baynes. Marcus Smart maybe, but then who?

You don't trade your locker room people.

I'm sure there was some sort of agreement where the Suns end up buying out Baynes. Danny probably told Baynes they were heading in a different direction.

The way Danny handled the IT situation was correct even though it leaves him left labeled as a "snake".

Steve Ballmer assured Blake Griffin would be a part of the Clippers future and even used Blake's kid as a prop to get him to sign. Then he traded his ass a few months later.

Before we say Ainge/other managers are snakes, I also see players sabotaged their teams, held the team in ransom and made demands that satisfied their own needs, NOT the club's best interest.
They could even walk away and left the club had nothing in return.

Is it fair?

Ainge worked his ass off for the club, we called him snake?

I don't think Ainge has deserved criticism for not pulling the trigger on making deals for Kawhi or AD. Nor does he deserve criticism for what's going on w/ Horford or the Kyrie trade on paper (but maybe the way it was handled).

However, last night seemed pretty awful for the Celtics. Poor picks, getting rid of Baynes...just didn't make sense. Ok, so they got a good future 1st rnder in return, but gotta stop sacrificing good players for assets at some point.

Mind your own team.

If Ainge is a snake, Pelinka isn't even a qualified GM

Yes, of course at this point, Ainge needs to do what he can do to build a roster.

That said, while yes it's just Aron Baynes and the fallout probably won't be too huge... why are you making promises like that to an Aron Baynes in the first place? THAT was the real mistake.

Baynes will be fine in Phoenix. Cops won't pull guns out on him threatening to bust a cap for stealing a Barbie. One of the whitest white guys in the NBA.

Sat on their assets until they became Tatum, Brown, Rozier, and Irving (2 of which are gone this summer).

No free agent wants to go there with Ainge's shit reputation and the racist fans.

Now the only option is to break the emergency glass and rebuild again. Banking on Tatum turning into a superstar that can carry a washed up max contract Hayward.

It's still a business at the end of the day and it works both ways. Players walk away or demand to be traded away all the time. The Miami Heat keeping Udonis Haslem on the roster the last 6-7 years is probably the closest thing to loyalty left in the league.

And that is just because they severely underpaid him on what was the biggest deal he would ever receive. But, at least they followed through on their word.

People are overreacting about Ainge. GM job is mostly luck if you're not a great drafter (and he isn't)...It just seemed like everything was going too right for him for a while, making Red Auerbach's 'luckiest bastard ever' comment seem very sapient, and that led people to start rooting for him to fail. And things have turned around all at once for him. Shit happens, he really hasn't behaved any differently in 15 years, the results are now just not bouncing his way.
