"The Los Angeles Lakers think they have a strong shot of getting Kawhi Leonard. ... Kawhi said, 'I don't want to play with LeBron James, I want to compete against LeBron. He's beaten me in the Finals once, I've beaten him in the Finals once.'"

I suspect hed say the same if offered a spot on the Warriors. You see him as the press conference cheesing with his old foes type? I dont.

I dont see him teaming up with any of his real foes.

that means he's rare for this era.

rare like faking a phantom injury for 2 years, then mid recovery 12 months later begging for a trade because he doesn't like his coaches politcal stance?

yeah that was rare indeed :oldlol:

What a legend. A true competitor. He is the heir of MJ/Kobe. Makes 99 percent of the stars in this league look like wimps. King Kawhi!

This guy is ending brans career in a blink of an eye

An alpha just like, but not to the extent of, LeGod. unlike those passive aggressive phaggits Kobe and Michael who kept whining to management about how they need more help. The real alphas go out there and get the deals done themselves.

Probably....but we thought KD was different too. Then he set a new standard. He was talking that good shit about the Heat and the Lakers before he lost for 5 more years. Leonard had the advantage of joining a title winning organization in SA so he had the monkey off his back early in his career. If Durant were on the Lakers to begin his career and managed to win one with a declining Kobe I dont know if he feels the need to join the Warriors.

Leonard? Having 2 rings now?

Whats left to prove. He just wants to be happy id bet. He doesnt need to chase anything. 2 rings isnt enough for GOAT talk from most fans these days but its enough to not feel like you have to go in search of more.

Time to cross off Kawhi from "Lakers wishlist"!

Time to move on to next option of Butler/Klay/Kyrie!

I respect that about Kawhi. I wish I could flip LeBron and Kawhi. I would gladly sign-and-trade for Kawhi with Raptors if it was ever presented :confusedshrug:

You can throw winning a championship in the first year with his brand new team right after the injury and winning a second Finals MVP on top of that. Rare indeed-dio.

What an alpha move.

Lebron always was a beta bitch. I'm sure he'll try to spin this somehow.

He prefers to join the #1 seed, exactly why he's staying with Raptors.

If the Lakers didn't sign Lebron last season, Kawhi would have been a Laker next season.

Look at Kblaze's post. Dudes doing all types of mental gymnastics to justify why Kawhi doesn't wanna play with LeBron.

Would've loved to see Kawhi on the Lakers, but have to respect the competitive spirit.

His post was obviously true. Kawhi is a competitive guy unlike Kd/Legoat.

I really don't understand this argument AGAINST LeBron tbh

Star teams up with Bron "No one wants to be competitive anymore, blah blah MJ blah blah Barkley"

Star says he wants to go at Bron, not team up with him "LMAO no one wants to play with LeCANCER, what a trash teammate"

tbh I wouldn't want to play with Lebron either. Not because he's not a great team mate, which I think he is but I wouldn't wanna play with a guy who thinks he's also the GM and head coach.

he's doing everything to micromanage the entire franchise

next thing you know, Lebron would forced them to have taco tuesday in practice gym twice a week instead of actual practices or scrimmages

Kawhi's the only 'healthy' max player I would throw that money at if I was the Lakers. If he's off the table, and presumably so are KD/Klay, I would spend that money on shoring up their depth, get some 3 and D guys around Lebron and AD.

Generally speaking, for 'basketball reasons' I think Kawhi's in the perfect position now. He's pretty much a national hero in Canada, he can play in a big market without the same media pressures as somewhere like LA or New York, and he's the undisputed star of a team but with quality pieces around him to compete for championships over the next few seasons. I don't see any logical 'basketball' reason why he would leave.
