Face it, Harden has an incredible regular season and actually had a very good playoff run (35/7/6 against the Warriors).

Giannis is a great player but overrated a little bit (he is not in my top 5). Harden was more impressive (basically averaged 40ppg over the last half of the season).

Harden carried the Rockets when they had injuries to deal with in the regular season.

Harden set records and broke historical precedents...

Giannis was... just good.

Bucks won 60.

Since you Bransvestites love advanced stats...

Giannis led the league in PER, had a higher TS%, averaged less turnovers, and had a far lower USG%.

Rockets underachieved.

Bucks overachieved.

OP schooled... again.

It all came down to wins. Had the Bucks not finished with the best record in the league, Harden probably would've won it.

27.7, 12.5, 5.9 with a 64TS% and 60 wins is now "just good "

Oh and elite defense.

Defense Harden could never dream to emulate.

Harden officially broke the record for most heartbroken fans this postseason

Harden got his stats selfishly
Depleted roster for a good part of the season. Meanwhile Giannis has a personal butler at the ready on every point of the 3pt arc.

Chris Broussard made a good point about this. Harden was on the team when his team fell to 11-14 before the injuries hit and everybody was healthy. Yet he gets credit out of bringing them out of the slump. Sure, he was great but he shouldn't get props for that.

Giannis was great the whole year.

This.

Harden was definitely amazing but I give the nod to Giannis.

Uhh so was Harden. When the Rockets were 11-14, Harden was averaging 30/8/6/2 on 61% TS. Then he started pouring those ridiculous scoring numbers for the rest of the season

When the injuries hit, that's when Harden started his 30 point streak.

They wouldnt have made the playoffs if Harden didnt take over.

Harden was absolutely great this year, but the voter fatigue from last year factored in. He should have 3 MVPs.

That's what people dont understand, or do understand but excuse...

When CP3 and Capela went out, Harden came alive and absolutely dominated the league for months.

IIRC, even Eric Gordon was out for a few games during that stretch.

Giannis isnt dragging a team with PJ Tucker as their #2 to a winning record. Only Harden and Durant could. No player in the league will say Giannis is the hardest player to guard... that's Harden or Steph or Durant or LBJ.

Fact is, Harden should have already had multiple MVPs. There was some 30+ voters who voted for RWB two years ago based on "stats" then turned around and voted for Giannis this year based on "record".

Giannis has the narrative going for him. That's all.

Imagine thinking Harden deserves any award.

Imagine thinking we should reward his style of play.

The rockets with a capela, giannis, tucker, gordon, paul lineup are a top 10 defense pretty clearly however. Yea he's not in the upper echelon of offensive players but he's still pretty great and the defensive tradeoff makes the comparison worth talking about. I dont remember games where none of the rockets next 3 guys played but there were quite a few with only 1.

could've gone either way. you can't say giannis didn't deserve it.

it is sort of like why Nash won MVP over 35 ppg Kobe
