I read that without taking vitamins, you're not getting the nutrients you need. You would need to eat 8 cantaloupes a day to get 400 IU of Vitamin E. They say the soil is depleted and causing micro deficiencies.

Also I read when you drink alcohol, it pulls calcium and minerals from your bones. Shouldn't we be supplementing?

What are we without our vitamins? I read every mental illness was caused by a vitamin or mineral deficiency. Our food doesn't have the minerals it had 100 years ago. So we need to supplement.

I take a multi-vitamin daily along with extra vitamin C and B12. Now that I am in my 50's, I have to take a prostrate supplement too unless I want to get up to piss 10 times a night. Getting old sucks.

I used to but i heard they don't actually do anything as your body doesn't recognize vitamins in a pill form so it doesn't actually do anything for you.

Nope. All that stuff is bulshit. Stick with a good balanced diet and you'll be fine.
The multi you'll just piss out because unless you're actually deficient in something specific you won't absorb anything.
And if you were actually deficient I would be getting a proper blood test and advice from a specialist.

OP would be vitamin D deficient from lack of sunlight in the basement and lack of D function in his diaper

Yup... It gets pissed out.

A - half cup of carrot juice will give 300% DV
B - any type of sandwich or meal with meat
C - apple or orange
D - go out and take a walk in the sun
E - 1-2 cups almond milk
Calcium/potassium/magnesium - bananas avocados and again almond milk

I'm glad you're aware of what's wrong with you. But I'm afraid no vitamin can help you at this point.

Kek at anyone, who thinks that he can get everything his body needs via diet. Keep them kek rolling. Also multivitamin forumals suck. Separate vits > multi vitamins.

Multis are just filling in the pieces of your diet which may be lacking.
Kind of like when Ikea throws in extra screws and bolts in case there are missing pieces to your furniture. You don't need it, but you're better off if you have it. For literally pennies a day to fill in the blanks it's a better investment than not taking one.

And to the poster who said nobody has the perfect diet, you're absolutely correct

Elhmadullilah, I cover vitamins B, C, and D daily for sure...I have to google the other two to see if I get them. For B, I eat 2 turkey sandwiches for breakfast. For C, I drink a cup of apple juice every day, and for D I get plenty of sun here where I live.

So after googling, I suppose I don't exactly get vitamin A and E on the regular, but I do eat avocados about 2-3 times per week and love me some fish....gotta do better though. Wouldn't hurt to have a tablespoon of peanut butter to cover E and then for A just make spring soup more often.

Used to, didn't feel much difference.

Do feel better on fish oil, taking turmeric.

Definitely prefer real sun exposure to D.

Upping the fats and greens could be beneficial.

After googling the different minerals you need too....are you guys sure the multi vitamins don't work? You can't just pop one of those and be set? Yea you'd piss/shit out the excess, but is excess bad necessarily? Wouldn't you rather be sure to get your daily amount?

Speaking as someone completely uneducated in food nutrition...the only things I stick to is to not digest too many calories and to stay away from high sodium products.

What about mega dose vitamin packs like from Fresh Start? The ones you see sold at the gas stations and convenience stores. Those cost about 40-60 bucks a month. They have 400 vitamin e and 1000 vitamin c. 25,000 vitamin a. Much more than the basic vitamins.

Are those better or is it too much? I read too much vitamin e will stay in your body since it

I take them - you do piss out quite a bit depending on which vitamin you take. I've taken vitamins before that didn't have neon piss afterwards.

I feel a jolt of energy when I take them so I take them after lunch. Pushes me through the afternoon.

When I took a fish oil from Nordic Naturals today I felt it within a second. Like my circulation was increasing and my whole body felt incredible. Do you think the fish oil did it or it was just in my mind?

Which vitamin do you take?

I'm not sure if it is good for his health.

Can somebody elaborate on this topic?

Omega 3 fatty acids found in fish oils are very important. They are great for your heart and help counteract triglycerides in your blood.

See your mentality is off. You're depending on getting all your nutrients from a multi. Multis are a condiment. Not the main course. I just go to Winners and buy whatever is on clearance.
Read my post again. A multi is there to fill in the gaps. Not be your main source of nutrition
If you were missing parts to build a piece of furniture would you go to the spare parts section in Ikea or buy the whole store? Think about it

I work an office job, and its supppper easy to gain weight. Because of that, I eat a filling breakfast (730am), a moderate lunch(130pm) that will keep me full till 8pm, and then I'll try to have as small of a dinner as possible. Sometimes it works out sometimes it doesn't.

Doesn't help that we got dispensary's in Florida now, back home smoking legal have me craving munchies late at night :lol Gotta fight the urge.

Today I felt like I was flying on my bike. I just felt much stronger than in months. But I've been taking my multis. Do you think the multis are playing a part? And the fish oil? I feel like I'm getting addicted to my vitamins. Many experts say they don't do anything, but whatever is in them, I feel like they're having an impact on my energy and well being.

Multivitamins are diet supplements. You should aim to get as many vitamins and nutrients from your diet as you can. Those sources should also be organic (Unless you can’t handle certain things - if you have a problem eating fish, then get a supplement for it)

I take a multivitamin (The one I take is Naturelo Whole Foods Multivitamin for Men). I also take Fish Oil supplements (Nordic Naturals). While those things really do help, nothing beats having a good diet and exercise

Don’t forget getting 8 hours of sleep. Even if you do everything else right, if you aren’t getting enough sleep you won’t feel nearly as good not to mention you run into a lot of other problems

Could you go into more detail? I get an average of 5-6 hours of sleep per night.

Sometimes if I take an hour-2hour nap after work, I'll only sleep 5 hours max at night. But on the regular weekdays, I get 6 hours just about...lets say 5.5 though if im being 100%.

If you are deficient in any vitamins they definitely help you. If you get enough you just piss out what you do not need. I do not eat ANYTHING green so I basically have to take vitamins. If you are feeling a lot more energy, it is quite possible you were deficient in one or more of the vitamins you are now getting. If they make you feel better with more energy you should by all means keep taking them. The definitely help me too.

As for the fish oil, it helps to counteract triglycerides in your blood as well as numerous other health benefits. A few years ago my triglycerides went through the roof so my doctor prescribed the prescription fish oil concentrate, Vasecpa. The Vasecpa is highly refined fish oil where they get 1000 mg of EPA Omega 3 in each large gel cap. I took that for a few weeks and started feeling much better than had had in some time. I did some research and found that high triglycerides contribute to inflammation in the body. Apparently the triglycerides were causing a lot of inflammation in me. I had already had two back surgeries which were not 100% successful so I was always in considerable pain. Once I started the Vascepa most of my pain was gone within a few weeks. Now Vascepa is not covered in my prescription formulary without getting special approval which is a huge PITA so I now take OTC fish oil in high does which seems to do the trick. I always look for OTC fish oil with high EPA omega 3..

More sleep equals more healing plus its more time youre not eating.

Not sleeping enough maybe why you gain weight so easily.

It's tough though, man. It's easier these days during summer, not much to stay up for during week days. But come NBA season, if I want to watch Lakers games Mon-Thurs, I won't be getting more than 5-6 hours of sleep those nights.

I hate 8 hour work days.

Thats not enough sleep. Try to get 7-8 hours of uninterrupted, good sleep and after about a week you'll notice a huge difference in places you didn't even know it affected

Here's a good, long write-up about it
https://goodmenproject.com/featured-content/how-much-sleep-do-men-need-chen-jrmk/

Not to mention there's also the fact that too little sleep has a pretty significant negative effect on testosterone in men, which obviously is a very bad thing as with low T men basically begin to fall apart

I'd prioritize health over those Lakers games. You can just read the scores or rewatch them later. Maybe circling the marquee matchups and staying up for those
