Came across this video and thought his methodology was really good for determining this, as he incorporated the strength of opposing defenses as well as teammate production

Thoughts?

Curry and Harden both show up on the underperformers list (Though Curry mostly due to injury). LeBron and Kobe are in the middle. Does it surprise anyone that Jordan comes out on top?

Hakeem doe

His Wizards years deflated his overall regular season numbers therefore inflating his improvement in the playoffs.

David Robinson would be comfortably a top 10 player if he played in the playoffs as well as he did in the regular season.

I am sure Lebron's improvement in the finals compared to playoffs is at least top 3 .

The dude's averages would be even higher in the finals if not for the horrible 2011 choke.

That isnt the discussion. It's about improvement from the regular season to the playoffs?

similar to taking home court advantage out of proportion, a big reason Kobe was a supporter of not having Phil Jackson back with the Nash Howard combo had something to do with the failure of 3-peat made him grew weary of the score score score pass model. attributed to the number change from 8 to 24

So the video doesn't prove shit since he thinks (knows) LeBron is better than MJ anyway lol

Nice try

Is that really the extent of your brain function? Lmao

Thread is about upping playoff performance from regular season. There, Jordan did it best with Hakeem arguable.

His opinions on who the GOAT is has no relevance here, nor does it show who he thinks was better (He said Jordan had the best peak and would be GOAT if he didn’t get injured his 2nd season or retire in 94) His GOAT list was based on career value, not who’s the “best”

Though it’s clear I’m speaking another language to you.

Stick to the threads with yes or no polls, champ. Those are simple enough

No, hence 6-0

What do you mean 6-0 ? He lost a couple of playoff runs (hence Finals, championship runs, thats what playoffs is)... hasnt been only 6 of them...

You mean 6-0 in Finals ? Jordan played no worse/better when he LOST, he was amazing all the time imo... has nothing to do with that, has to do with having a better team...

If 1985-1989 Jordan went to the Finals all those years he would have lost those Finals.....
If 1985-1989 Jordan went to the Finals all those years AND had a 80s Lakers/Celtics (or played there) or had the best 90s Bulls roster he would have won those Finals.....
If Jordan never had a good roster around him he would been RINGLESS... you can say that for everybody....

Its a team accomplishment, its a team game... the best team wins, not the best player....

I have 10 regular season scoring titles and made 13 playoffs like LeBron James yet I still scored 1,000 less points in the playoffs

i like taylor's own version on bpm over basketball reference's. Using just obpm is a good idea too even though it's not complete, box score stuff is shoddy at measuring defense.
