The Lakers will start free agency with $32M in salary cap space. The Lakers have the ability to sign a max player now.

The Lakers are trading Mo Wagner, Isaac Bonga and Jemerrio Jones to Wizards as part of the Anthony Davis deal with New Orleans, league sources tell @ZachLowe_NBA and me. Deal clears contracts and creates more cap space for free agency.

Lakers wont give DLO 27 mill lmfao. It'll be 20-22 MAX. And he'd be our back up back up plan. Also I think Lakers have someone in place. AD and Bron have been texting players for a while. Lakers got something in the bag

Not saying these 3 players we sent to Washington would even get playing time this upcoming season, but lord all mighty have we thinned out our roster.

Lebron
AD
Kuzma
THT

That is our roster right now. THT probably will spend most of his rookie year as a reserve or in the d league.

3 starters + 1 max player + the MLE. And then the rest of the roster....7+ players...will be filled out from vet minimum contracts.

I really don't see how this is going to work. If this recent playoffs has proven ANYTHING, it's that without depth you wont go very far.

If Lakers secure a deal with a third star or good role players they may win it all, but it's plausible. What if AD or Lebron gets injured during regular season like Kobe. I shudder to think about it.

That's great, it's very nice having them! Now what happens if Lebron has a similar injury like he did this year? AD has already proven to be incapable of carrying a team to the playoffs without some kind of help (not a shot at him, very few players are able to do this. Lebron/Kobe types are the only ones capable, Kawhi etc.).

I just don't like this. I didn't like it the day the trade happened and I still don't. Am I hopeful? Of course, and I eagerly await the start of free agency to see what we do. But I absolutely do not have a good feeling about this.

All 3 of the guys you mentioned are vet minimum players. I suppose if the team can get those guys for the minimum and end up with Kawhi, yea it'll be fine.

We have to see what happens. We can sit here and predict all day, if the bench isn't solid come opening night, this is gonna be another shaky season.

It's an impossible debate now since it's done and we will never know what could have been, but I would have preferred to sign a max FA this summer, use what was left of the cap to sign better bench pieces, and yes give Ingram whatever next year, who cares when you already have Lebron + InsertMaxHere.

It's not just Ingram, Lonzo is the biggest loss in the trade. Plus the 4th pick, which we would have used on Garland or Culver. We could have been a deep, deep team with a healthy roster.

anyways who cares, it's AD/Lebron/Kuzma atm. Not the worst situation at all, but not necessarily best either.

You know who is more ball-dominant than anyone ever?

Lebron

Maybe if he was skilled enough to get his same PER without dominating the ball, it wouldn't matter if others dominated the ball and lebron could fit with more player types or need so much help.

But alas, if he had the skill, repertoire, and shooting touch do do that, he'd be the goat with 6 rings and counting.. but don't worry, at least he had a brief run where many people at ESPN called him goat, before this last season snapped them back to reality (only Shannon, Nick, and Hollins call him goat now)

So that is a yes.

The problem with that approach is that Lebron doesn't really make sense on that team and getting a max free agent was going to be tough.

I really like the young players the Lakers gave up and always have, but I think this option was better than being on the hook for Ingram's looming deal.

Also, they might still get that other free agent you reference...and if so, there is really no way those Lakers that were traded end up being more valuable than Davis plus role players to fill out the roster.

If they completely miss in free agency and do another terrible job building around Lebron like last summer...then that is a different story...but I just won't believe that they'll make the same dumb mistakes again. They've been a poorly run franchise for a long time now, but failing to surround Lebron with players that make sense in back to back summers takes a special kind of supidity.
