They will still be a top 3 team in the west. Curry and Klay = automatic 50+ win season. They just need to use the money they were planning on giving KD to shore up their depth and bring some younger players in.

I hope people are joking mentioning Deandre Jordan along with KD and Kyrie.

Deandre Jordan is now a serious net negative on the floor and likely off the floor as well. Plays Lebron esque matador defense and doesn't move at all on offense.

Good for Brooklyn and the league as a whole. :applause:

Even if Durant's impact remains on the backwaters this season, title contention is likely in the offing for the Nets. They have an able coach, a franchise cornerstone in the wings, a provenly adept championship-level second option, and a platoon of solid role-players; they just need Durant to convalesce and add another ancillary piece or two, and they'll have just as plausible of title-contention chances as anyone else with the league's likely-seeming parity moving forward.

Whether or not that parity materializes, though, could hinge on Kawhi's decision; that's why I'm hoping he either re-signs with the Raptors or joins the Clippers out of all likely suitors.

These are the types of comments that make me laugh. So many knee-jerk reactions. We have no idea how this is going to work. Kyrie was setup in a perfect situation in Boston. A bunch of young talent, and he was the alpha dog. He couldn't lead them.

Now he's in Brooklyn without Durant for a year. We have no idea if Durant will return to form and how well Kyrie will fair sharing the ball with Durant. He didn't like sharing it with LeBron who was a more willing passer.

Talk about best way of losing out on Kyrie. Nets Lakers games now are the new draw it seems (health aside.) Domino effect in effect. Infrequent to have FA more exciting than preceding playoffs, this is one of those occasions.

Kyrie isn't a leader. He can be be a nice piece of a championship team if he can stand on the shoulders of a Lebron or a fully-recovered KD type player.

If KD doesn't recover at least to the point of being vastly better than Kyrie, the nets will not win a championship. But if KD recovers by 90% or more that team could work.

What a great time to be a Nets fan. Watching the rebuilding take place a few years ago to having marquee free agents WANT to play for the Brooklyn Nets is amazing. It does really suck that Durant will likely miss all of next season.....

The only thing that is confusing me right now is why we let Ed Davis walk for $5 million per year. For the value that he bring we are not going to find a better back-up forward at that price so why let him walk away like that? I don't want this team to be top-heavy. Need two more bench pieces. Either way really curious to see how this unfolds over the next four years.  :D

We decided not to max out a player coming off a full achilles rupture and a headcase who doesn't think the earth is round.

I have zero shame in my game. We gonna roll w/ RJ Barrett and company. Btw RJ is being compared to a hybrid of Wade and Harden.

I'm filling up right now just thinking of 10+ years of RJ

This is still a huge gamble on Brooklyn's part. They need KD back at old KD-status, not 50-70% of KD like Boston fans are watching with Hayward right now. 70% of KD is still great player but it's not winning a title.

A 70% KD can still shoot jumpers in anyone's face all day long. Hayward cant.

This gives them a much bigger chance of winning than literally anything they could have come up with otherwise.. by a monumental margin. They were an irrelevant team regardless of what moves they made unless KD joined them.
