This was carefully crafted and weighted for weeks and months a time.

Not all years fit into an era, the overall theme of things.

Commercial break means, optimal striking time, really only one possible outcome/suitor.

See, every single year, top 5 players win in the NBA.

And they're all paired with at least one other all star (voted or not).

2009-2010, Kobe was the only top 5 player between LBJ/DW/Dirk/Paul with all-star help, or any resemblance of a supporting cast.

So, he was the commercial break, before the true action picked up again, and all top 5'ers had help.

i love paul but didnt he have david west lol. His help was good in 08, fine in 09. Deron Williams had Boozer/Okur too but that's a moot point, he isnt close to top 5 lol.

I put in Wade and Dwight to round out top 5 instead of those 2. Dwight's help was good and obviously wade suffered the most those 2 years out of any superstar.

ya, he indeed had david west. but its moot. david west as best help for the 5th best player just has no significance against gasol, odom, bynum.

peja was scoring like 17 a game, i mean he dropped off after that but that was a good season. Chandler was doing his typical lob finishing and rim protection, certainly better than your average role player I would think. Btw both are fantastic fits with a pg like paul. The lakers didnt have both gasol and bynum in 08 anyway

fair enough but then paul wasnt top 5 in 10. Like yea his help is weaker in 09 but this is an apples to oranges comparison like with wade but to a lesser extent(and i wonder why you gloss over wade in the top 5 when he's one of the most obvious ones).

The lakers were a 65 win championship team, the hornets were a 49 win 1st rd exit team. Kobe can be better with better help too

gloss over wade? wait what i gloss over?

08-10 has all top 5 players with no help except kobe. 1 year of d-west doesnt really change that. even howard's a

Damn that's crazy how nobody had good teams except Kobe from '08-10 and LeBron still couldn't make it out of the East despite playing on two #1 overall seeds

You dont understand.

There were good teams.

But only 5 great ones.

2008 Celtics, 2008 Lakers, 2009 Lakers, 2010 Lakers, 2010 Celtics.

Ergo, Commercial Break Era, before the real deal popped off (Dallas, OKC, LAL, MIA, BOS).

ok so the celtics were as great if not greater than the 08-10 lakers. How is that a super easy road for kobe then?

Oh okay I think I understand now

-Kobe created a dynasty with Pau Gasol and roleplayers
-LeBron lost to a Dwight Howard led team whose All-Star PG was injured and replaced by a professional streetball player
-The Lakers capped off b2b titles with a finals win over a great Celtics team

Do you call it the commercial break era because that was the only watchable part of playoff games as a LeBron fan?
