There's money involve too and a big load of money that only the Raptors can give him.
I just wish Jalen Rose is right once again. He knows his shit more than any analyst.

Smart move is take the fours years now and start building your next contract at 32.

Kawhi doesnt have the health of lebron to do 1 year deals til 30 and he doesnt have the length and freak build like Durant to be super maxed if hurt.
Hes taking the 4 year deal.
Woj said clippers but that's because he hates the lakers and lebron.
I think it would be cool to see him on the clippers for competitive purposes. Laker fans absolutely should want him though.

Korver as LA's consolation prize. Kawhi choosing between Raps and Clippers; having fun with media. My guess is Raps.

Maybe that's why Kawhi likes wearing cornrows? Because AI used to rock that look...

The Forbes article is interesting, but I'm not sure I agree with the authors conclusions. He's basically saying that Kawhi will sign with the Lakers or Clippers because he'll make $11.4 million dollars more that way, after all of the taxes are computed.
That's a compelling argument, but it assumes that money is the most important factor in Kawhis decision. For most people that would be true, but I'm not sure that's the case for Kawhi. His trade demand when he was with the Spurs cost him at least $80 million, and that didn't seem to bother him. On the one hand you could say that the money doesn't matter, or you could look at it the other way, that having given up so much already, he won't want to give up any more.
But the author is basing all of his calculations on Kawhi paying taxes in California because he owns a house there. He bought it back before the playoffs started, at the time he was probably certain he would be playing in Cali next season. If he decides to re-up with the Raptors, there's nothing stopping him from turning right around and selling it. I'm not a tax expert, but if he doesn't own any property in California it seems to me that it would be difficult for the state to claim that he's a resident and must pay taxes.
