Oklahoma City is trading All-Star Paul George to the Los Angeles Clippers for a record-setting collection of draft choices, league sources tell ESPN.

clippers went 0 to 100

If he's still on the Thunder this season? He chucks up 30 shots a game...to average 30 points a game. It's going to be real ugly.

I mean its still just Kawhi and George...Patrick Beverly is a mediocre point guard.

This puts them top 4 in the WEST.

They essentially have the same team from last season plus Leonard and PG now?

Or are multiple players on that team now free agents? They looked pretty damn scrappy in the playoffs WITHOUT any star players dude.

They improve on both ends, no doubt.
You lost Gallo who is an amazing shooter, and Alexander who shot lights out in the playoffs.

Pickups on both ends. Because of their bench I don't think that automatically puts them on top.

Paul George is my favorite player, he is a STREAKY shooter, Kawhi will be Kawhi...this is an upgrade but this team is beatable.

Presti knows they have 0 chance w/ that payroll and Westbrick on the team. If he's smart (which he is) AND non-sentimental (which he may not be...), he'll trade Russ this offseason too.

How many first round pick and overall first pick Clippers screwed up previously?

Now here is a real all star, it worth everything.

When you have Leonard and PG, the picks won't worth much because they will be a playoff team.

They may not win it in the end, but I am so happy that Clippers are relevant finally, and Lebron's team going to suck again.

I'm not disagreeing, its just something to watch for.

PG is my favorite player in the NBA but his chemistry with other players is always questionable... His shooting is questionable, and his consistency is questionable...however, his defense is always there.

He is a career 43% shooter, its nothing to write home about. He is popular and he is a hard worker but he is STREAKY which has been his problem in the playoffs. Like I said Clippers improved most certainly...there are 6 teams in the western conference that can beat this clippers squad on any given day...

OKC acquired THREE unprotected first-round picks from the Clippers in this trade (2022, 2024 and 2026), league sources say, PLUS two firsts from Miami (2021 unprotected and 2023 protected 1-to-14) ... AND the right to swap picks with the Clips in 2023 and 2025. Staggering

westbrook is the next one to be traded.

Offensively they have the edge, but defensively Clippers are strong. Clippers will be top 3 in defense.

The Clips are better yes. If this was a younger Lebron then maybe.

17th season Lebron? No chance. He especially needed Kawhi.

lol, more like almost there. LAL is easily outclassed by LAC, Den, and Utah. Not even sure I'd consider LAL better than Portland, Houston, or even SAS (LW4 and Dajounte about to blow up. Keldon in a couple years will follow suit). Shit, NOP > LAL? AD and Kuzma are real nice. But the rest of the roster is a 34 y/o LeBron, Danny Green, and tablescraps so far. Only dummies and plebs truly think LAL will be contenders.

I may be convinced otherwise if they get Marcus Morris...uhh...I guess that's about it. Cousins is a cancer and wont help them. Rondo is really the only PG available? Man...gonna be ugly.

lol right...because LeBron isn't still a top 10 player in the league or anything regardless if he's 34 or not. Don't be a moron.

Dude, we all saw his decline on D. Of course he's a great player, but he's no longer what he used to be. Even you said "Top 10" rather than "Top 1", like he was just 2 years ago.

I mean, OKC had 2 Top 10ish players and a better roster than what LAL has now and look how they did. You really expect LAL to be a contender as they're constructed now?

You need more than table scraps to supplement your stars. This year's Finals was indisputable evidences of that.

lol you went out of your way to say Davis and Kuzma (wtf lol he's not even top 50 in the league) and then said a 34 year old LeBron like he's garbage. Make up your mind. Also, Westbrick wasn't close to being a top 10 player in the league this past season.

I said Kuzma is nice. Am I wrong? But keep strawmanning me, it's cool.

Clippers basically gave up everything and the kitchen sink to get Paul George. It was a clear deal breaker for Kawhi. Either you get me Paul George or I'm headed back to the North.

Kawhi is an idiot. I hate to say that but he is. He talks about wanting load management yet he's going to be carrying most of the load with the Clippers. Paul George is a second fiddle. He's the very definition of a Robin. Robin can't do shit on his own.

Kawhi is going to regret this shit lol. He deserves it. Pretty much quit on the Spurs and left a championship Toronto team to move to L.A. Next season is going to be a nightmare for him

Not to mention, the Lakers will be just fine. Lebron / AD / Kuz enough to win the west without KD and Klay on the Warriors.

Dumb move by Kawhi. Enjoy carrying that load big boy. No games off for you. :lol

Lol, what? Were you fighting off tears while typing this?

Future-wise, they gave up a lot through picks. But as for the present team?

They were basically the deepest team in the league, and lose one player from that depth, if that. Their core of Bev, Lou & Harrell remains in tact.

Here's the bottom line-

Out: Shai, Galo

In: Kawhi, George

AD hasnt done shit either.. He has only made the playoffs twice.. He played with A SUPERSTAR in COUSINS and Rondo as well as Holiday and they still were middle of the pack.. TODAYs NBA is about PERIMETER PLAYERS.. AD doenst move the needle as much a great perimeter player.. Plus he is soft.. How many times did you see DRAYMOND Green shut him down in 2018..

They lost out on PG because they thought they could land him in free agency. The Lakers would've been stupid to risk that happening again with AD. Just get the guy now. They also just signed Green which is a good fit for them and they can always pick up vets throughout the season. Some players get traded by teams purely to get bought out for cap relief and you can always find gems in the G- League (Siakam was a g-league player) People are making out that the lakers are going to be playing 4v5 basketball or something :confusedshrug:

Nobody wants to play with Russ if it's playing in OKC as opposed to LA. PG had his taste, can't win with nobody else capable of shooting in this current NBA on your team.

Clips basically traded Blake/Tobias for PG/Kawhi. Jerry West is the best GM in NBA history. Hilarious to contrast him to whatever is happening with the Lakers.

Yea, that Harris trade was amazing.

Could ultimately work out for the Sixers, but man...the Clippers got real assets for a player they had no intention of paying...

And it looks so smart now, but also did at the time.

Nah, a great opportunity presented itself and he took it.

Play in LA on a much better team.

:confusedshrug:

Right. He asks to be sent out one year into his initial signing because an opportunity presented itself.

No dude. The cat got emotional and made a decision based on feeling shunned. There was no reason to sign with OKC.

Yes, he did end up in a better situation with being in LA again without the drama of the Lakers but that

While I don't doubt West has made an impact, I feel he gets too much credit.

Frank, Redden, Winger are all spectacular. Lee Jenkins is smart as could be as well.

Clippers have been making solid moves for awhile now. But it

Is it possible to be inducted into the bball hof twice? If it is, then Jerry West should be the first. I did not see this trade coming at all, and somehow they kept it quiet until now. Jerry West's GM career from the Showtime Lakers to the modern Warriors and now this, is the stuff of legend. The fact that he's still making moves like this in his 80's is mind boggling.

That's what I said, polar opposite of what is going on with the Lakers.

:applause:

Ballmer and Doc too. Reorganziing the FO because one man having that much power hasn't worked anywhere in the nba. I've never been the biggest Doc fan, but credit to him for accepting it, being humbled, and moving forward focusing on head coaching duties.

West has always made the biggest splash moves.

Shaq+Kobe in 98

Kobe+Gasol in 07

Leonard+George in 19

I'm probably forgetting some.

People talk about the Lakers this and that but the main reason they cant get free agents is...

Todays players see the value that one title for a team that rarely wins has over Boston and Lakers who have 15 plus.

didn't he retire in 2007 as a MEMPHIS GM?

Jerry West:

traded Vlade Divac for a young Kobe

signed prime Shaq

drafted Klay and Draymond

shut down Klay for Love trade

signed prime Durant

signed prime Kawhi

George trade

PG just had his best season. And in case you didn't notice, he played with Westbrook :facepalm

OKC lost to Portland because PG hurt his shoulder and it still hadn't healed. He had a legit shot at MVP up until that injury.

:lol

If Clippers lose to Mavs, you were right on the money!
