Why ??? Maybe kahwi stays with big 3 in Toronto? Makes no sense on Raptors part.

Probably involved Vanleet, OG, and four unprotected picks way into the future. I don’t think Westbrook has much value these days with that super max.

He makes 2 million dollars and George and Westbrook combine for 68. It would have had to be Lowry and his 30+ million and either gasol or Ibaka....and then some. Something like Lowry, Ibaka, Pascal, filler and picks.

Nah, no way.

No way would they pass on the chance to have those 3 guys locked in on multi-year deals...even if it decimated their depth when the alternative is losing Leonard and no longer being a contender.

Taking WB is a huge commitment, he will be making $47 million in 22-23... the Raps would be capped out and in luxury tax hell for years taking on that contract. They would also have to give up Lowry/Gasol/Ibaka in the deal to make it work cuz they are over cap and Siakam has a small contract.

I just don't see how it would work in a reasonable way... maybe Siakam and some first round picks for PG like the Clipps gave up, but it's highly unlikely any team is going to trade for WB and his albatross contract.

In the end, Toronto didn't have assets to satisfy OKC --- with or without Siakam in any proposed deal. The fear of Toronto entering into trade talks with OKC only proved to guarantee the Clippers would go the distance with five first-round picks and SGA in deal for George.

The team that said no on this one for sure was the Thunder.

There is no universe in which the Raptors choose to let Leonard walk over taking on Russ/PG...

Trading Russ is going to be difficult, but he's better than people give him credit for. As well as Presti has done in some areas, he's been utterly terrible in terms of surrounding Russ/KD and Russ/George with enough shooting.

I'd like to see Russ play for a team with quality shooting...I think he'd be a lot better than people would think.

Something built around Russ/Gallo to the Wizards for Wall/Ian could be interesting if the Wizards really are going to try and keep Beal.

Russ on the Suns would be interesting, but with Rubio obviously doesn't make sense.

The raptors would have had to get rid of Gasol and every player on the roster + find another team to dump salary. It's not that easy to match 70-80 million in salary. Not to mention, they wouldn't able to afford the luxury tax. PG13 and westbrook are on long term deals.

Siakam aside, every major guy for Tor is/was a strong veteran, paid like one. You couldn't just add RW.

And i have a strong feeling the Miami '21 unprotected pick LAC gave to OKC was the nail in the coffin

Presti saw all the improving teams in the conference (Lakers, Jazz) or that solid teams would stay solid (Denver, Portland), decided he couldn't do it with the cap situation, chose to go full rebuild and took the best offer

Mayve we're gonna see a Steven Adams trade soon.

Presti is eyeing 2023, not 2020. He wants to be ready for when Lebron will leave, Warriors will be disbanded and LAC will split up their team

pg and westbrook were perennial first round exits together.. a proven losing formula.

westbrook in general craters teamwork. id much rather build slow with a young siakam than have a treadmill westbrick led squad.

That absurd for someone like him.

Absolutely.

It is too bad that the Thunder couldn't ever get the shooting around Russ/George that would have made them really dangerous. Sucks...because they weren't that far off from being a conference finals or better type team.

Just adding Bazemore instead of Schroder would have helped a lot.

But, that is all in the past now.

This package for George was enormous and you have to take it immediately regardless of the future plans. Shai is going to be awesome...and they just got 5 extra picks. It is a better package than the Pels got for Davis given Ball/Ingram struggles and the fact that they are about to get paid.
