I hope so. I want to see this guy win a ring. He's one of the most determined and hard working players on the court. He plays with passion and deserves more than what OKC can give him.

They might as well, they aren't going anywhere. This team had the best luck in drafting of any team I have ever seen and managed to screw that up. Should of been the team to beat for a decade plus. Time to re-build.

Trade Westbrook to the Cavs. Then LeBron can join up with him in three years for a farewell season.

Honestly, I am fine with the Cavs just re-building out the draft the next several years. Besides, who would we trade for Westbrook?

If the Lakers could somehow get him? Cousins is only on a 1 year, so OKC would get an expirer which I am sure that's what they want in return. They would probably want Kuzma too and send them draft picks for the remaining 2020's drafts :lol

greymatter

Depends on who will take him.

If you're a GM who just wants to field a non-lottery bound team before WB's game ages itself to oblivion (coming soon), sure. No team with WB will ever have a chance to compete for a title so long as WB is getting paid 40+ million a year.

There is no way in hell WB and LBJ could work.

Kiddlovesnets

They can keep him while still in the tank/rebuild mode, Westbrook can stat-pad and the team will keep losing games, its a win-win situation for both.

I'd take on Wiggins as the Mavs if it meant getting back Covington.

So something around Wiggins/Covington to Mavs, Russ to wolves, Lee/Hardaway/Wolves first rounders to Thunder.

And I think the Mavs could take on Teague as well if the Wolves wanted to save money this year.

Nah, no money to work out salaries (Westbrook makes $40mil...). Besides, why would you want that? Terrible fit

I wonder if in time they would trade Kuzma with some package deal for Westbrook?

I heard the Thunder was interested in Siakam in some package for Westbrook.

Not many teams can send the salary back to make it work. Only two options at the moment are Miami and Minnesotta

I can see Miami giving it a go

A trade package of Dragic + Winslow + Herro 2020 and 2022 first round picks for Westbrook could work

For T-Wolves a deal around Wiggins and draft picks could work but feel Heat have the more assets

Miami would have

Westbrook
Waiters
Butler
J.Johnson
Adebayo

Pretty solid starting 5

I think if he goes out East he can be a playoff mainstay.
Will the Knicks be interested since it's the only way to get a star.

The guy is sloppy and out of control. He's asking for another major injury. Defenses own him in the playoffs. He becomes a turnover machine. Crappy teammate. he's done for.

Apparently they're talking. What would you like to give up? Winslow + Herro + light pick package?

I doubt OKC will ask for anything less than a big package. I'd say either Winslow or Herro (or both?) and either Okpala or DJJr. To go along w/ 2+ picks.

If I were OKC, I'd be eager to just get this done and not demand too much. Plus, that'd be doing Russ a bit of a solid. Gimme either Winslow or Herro + 1 1st (has to be 2023?) + swap option for the next 10 years.

:oldlol:

Lakers don't need this chucker. I mean I like Westbrook's intensity, but I'm concerned about his basketball I.Q. He takes ill advised shots and couldn't win with soft as cotton KD, James Harden, and Ibaka when they were all on the same damn team.

I mean he's an upgrade over Rondo and whoever else the Lakers have at PG currently, but I don't see how the Lakers could even get this fool.

GimmeThat
07-07-2019, 01:15 AM
nothing's going to happen, Westbook's still ideal in developing talents around OKC for half a season, he puts up wins too easily. he's gonna end up worth 2 top 10 picks with another 15th pick, and cash consideration etc.

from the franchise, particularly GMs' perspective "I want the guy, but I can't just say yet I'm gonna have the salary space to keep him"

why not trade for him just to see him walk? the Zion Williamson hype continues, people who were right about Ben Simmons been getting paid big.

Detroit could be nice if they get him. They want to fill seats. Westbrook plus Blake would do that.

Not sure if Houston and Miami have the right assetts to pull it off.

They'd be a legit top 3 seed in the East.

People are shitting on him because of one bad playoff series but he's still an all-time great, future hall of famer who has 3 prime years in him.

That old man will retire after 20 games when he can't handle WB + Morris ill advised outside shots anymore :oldlol:

Hell, if I'm an opposing GM I'm viewing Westbrook and his ridiculous Supermax contract as negative equity. OKC is going to have to toss in a couple of those picks they got from the Clips if they want me to take Russ off of their hands.

Look at how much he's owed:

2020: 38.2 million
2021: 41 million
2022: 43.8 million
2023: Player option for 46.7 million

That's around $170 million over the next four seasons. The only way I'm investing that much in a single player is if he's clearly going to elevate my team to championship contender status. Otherwise I prefer to keep my assets flexible.

I agree for the most part, but so many teams have no chance of contending in that time period and need to sell tickets.

Russ is really good, fun to watch, fans really like him...and he'll help your team be competitive if you aren't good.

There aren't a ton of destinations for him, but...depending on the goals...

Orlando/Washington/Charlotte/Detroit/Miami/Chicago/Minnesota/Phoenix

Should all think about if the cost isn't very steep.

Good list. Charlotte with the Jordan brand connection and already being a 'treadmill' team would make sense. Chicago also if they don't give up any significant future assets.

Good list. Charlotte with the Jordan brand connection and already being a 'treadmill' team would make sense. Chicago also if they don't give up any significant future assets.

I like Chicago quite a bit actually because Lavine/Dunn doesn't really do anything for them...and a package around that would make sense for the Thunder because Lavine could become a nice trade asset if he goes to OKC and lights it up. His contract, after this coming season...will look really good as well.

Something like;

Thunder get Lavine/Dunn/Felicio/Lightly Protected First

Bulls get Russ

Thunder save money immediately and a lot long-term, get another extra first-round pick, and a guy in Lavine that is fun to watch for fans that could build up his trade value. Thunder get worse so it has the impact of improving their own pick as well.

Bulls lose nothing that matters to them except the first round pick and get to add a player that will make them better and bring a lot of excitement to the team.

Russ/Porter/Lauri is actually a really interesting combination. I'd love to see Russ get to play with a big like Lauri that can nail 3's like he can. Thad Young even...you don't want him taking a lot of 3's, but you can't leave him wide open or anything.

I know they signed Sato and drafted White, but I actually like the idea of having all 3. If I was the coach, I'd limit Russ's minutes....no more 36 minutes a game. I'd try hard to get that down to 32 a game. Play him in spurts a bit more take a few more games off and try to play around 65 to 70 even if healthy...let White/Sato make up the difference. It is pretty interesting to think about.

I think it would be worth it for the Bulls because they'd actually be really good and it would be fun to see them in the playoffs.

He should go East and keep the rivalry with Durant up, he can steal the EC show for a whole year before KD's return.
